I'm thinking of doing Q45 front brakes to get some more surface area for fade resistance without having to resort to extreme unstreetable pads (like i probably would on the stock setup). My friends with 240s with stock brakes and good fluid/hawk hps pads have faded on the roads we drive, which really scares me, so i want some insurance. Since the Q brakes are a 2 piston rather than a huge 4 piston like the Z brakes, I figure the pedal feel should be closer to stock and I won't need a new MC. Plus, since this is the NISMO upgrade, I'd assume its a well thought out setup. Anyways, I was wondering if and/or where I could find nice streetable pads like Hawk HPS for the Q, and if its tricky to find new rotors for them. SPL doesn't carry anything for them, and upon considering that the Q isn't a performance machine, I realized that it may be hard to find anything but OEM for the Q brakes. Comments?

SPL does carry stuff for them

The pads I believe are the same as the Maxima's. If thats the case we might even have them in stock.

Give us a ring on Monday and I will have a set drop shipped to you or I'll check to see if we have them in stock.

1-866-SPL-PART

BTW, we also have ATE Super Blue Racing fluid (currently out of stock ), Speedbleeders (worth their weight in gold, IMO), and stainless brake lines with banjo fittings that will work with the Q45 calipers.

Something you and your friends will want to invest in is going to Home Depot or Lowes or some home improvement store and getting some good ducting to make brake cooling ducts out of. This works very well for keeping the brakes cooler between stops.

Sweet, didn't see them on the site so I didn't think you carried 'em. I want to finalize some things about the brake swap before I do it, but I'll definitely give you guys a call when I do. What kind of ducting do you recommned and where should we aim it?

Something that is structurally decent (heater ducting works ok, but the plastic xylophone type stuff works best)... basically look around and find a material that would be the most suitable to flowing air, not all places have the same stuff.

The best location is to aim it at the inner opening of the back of the rotor so that the air travels through the internal veins of the rotor; which requires the removal of the brake dust shield. Other suitable locations would be the top of the rotor, etc.

Cool, I'll work on that. I actually thought about doing something like taht earlier this summer but I had never seen anyone do it, so I figured there must be some reason for that. Sounds like a fun little project though!
