Hi i have search for some answer but i came up empty... I thinking of doing a Q45 front brake conversion for the S13

Does the Q calipers work with the 240sx--->300zx brake lines and also do i have to do a master brake cylinder(sp?) swap? Are there any write ups on the Q45 brake conversions and also does any year Q45 calipers work? Thanks for all replys:D :help

The Q calipers should fit. The rotor will need to be drilled with a 4-lug pattern or your car converted to a 5-lug set-up. The piston surface area of the Q45 brakes are slightly bigger, so the pedal may need to travel a bit more to get the same clamp force, but the larger diameter rotor may allow you to get equal to better brake torque. The Z brakes do well with this and probably have a larger combined surface area for the pistons than the Q45 brakes.

Nissan Motorsports only test fit the 95 and older Q45 brakes last time I spoke with them. But with so many of the brakes for the Nissans using same caliper mount to hub dimensions, it's likely it will fit. It will probably use a banjo fitting, so the stock lines will probably bolt right up. And as far as documentation, the only place I'ce seen any documentation was SCC magazine when they had a Project 240SX(S14) years ago. But the procedure won't be much different than a Z brake install.

Z brake install

It'd be awesome to do that. Ask fred if he still has his calipers.

I did the Q45 swap this winter. The stock lines bolt right up. I replaced mine with the DOT approved Russel stainless steel lines for the 240. You will need to cut away some of the splash guard for the rotor to clear. The pedal is touchier then stock if you keep the same master cylinder, but it's not too grabby. The balance is biased too much to the front with the stock proportioning valve. I'll probably get an adjustable in the future. All in all I like the results of the swap.
