Ok, I have a buddy with a 1998 Z28 Camaro, and over the weekend i helped him swap out the OEM coils for a set of MSD Blaster coils. Holy Carp that made a differience!! That got me thinking, Would sucha thing be possible for the Q? I know That you you might be able to rewire the the connecter and just bolt the Blasters over the "Valve Covers". But it doing such a thing going to make a dramatic change? has someone done this before? WHat do you think? Thanks.

I dont see how replacing coils would do anything for performance, unless current coils are not working correctly-q stock coils can produce more juice than needed to fire even extremely old, worn plugs

The Q is so picky, I'm afraid to do something like that.

VH45DE coilpacks are good up to 9K+ RPM. Q45tech posted on this subject recently.

A VH45DE is not a Cheby.

I would like to add that the stock chevy coil packs aren't bad if properly functioning. To actually have just a coil swap make a noticeable difference in power, it would mean some of his original coils weren't working as they should have been.

Careful as the switching transistors in ecu are matched to coil resistance and inductance. Changes in coils can reflect a voltage spike back and destroy ecu. True there is a Zener to clamp spikes but just oem spike.

Always have a spare ecu when you go redesigning the electronics it feeds.

Same with injectors as you really don't know how much safety reserve in switching transistors has faded away in 17 years of ecu operation.

Power transistors contain many tiny parallel units, the weakest junction fails first creating a cascade of hot spots which stress the the next and the next.

The Q45 already has "blaster coils" from the factory. End of discussion.
