Just bought an impeccable '02 Q45 (thanks to those who gave advice!)

Does the '02 have a "black box" also known as an "Event Data Recorder - EDR" or a Sensing and Diagnostic Module - SDM"?

If so, does anyone know what data it records? I've searched the internet extensively and the dealer is no help - so I'm stumped.

Please let me know if you can - Thanks!

Any vehicle with Air Bags has a black box recorder which constantly rolls in out at least 10 seconds of data slices prior to air bag activation.

Speed, and time between brake activation, deceleration rate from ABS prior to bag deployment. If Yaw sensor then yaw rates are added.

Simple just look at sensor inputs to Air Bag Computer in FSM.

The OBD2 ecu data logs dozens of paramters before and when a MIL light is activated so techs can see what was happening just prior.
