I recently replaced a headlight ballast on the drivers side and it worked fine until I dimmed the dashboard light. Then the drivers side headlight went out. When I checked the 20 amp fuse for the headlight it was blown. I replaced the fuse and it immediately blew. I had a spare ballast and after making sure the dash lights were at max (like they were before I had the problem) I installed the new ballast and the driver side low beam light works fine. I suspect there may be a short in the dash light dimmer switch, any thoughts?

Thank you

It's hard to imagine any way that the dash dimmer and ballast burnout are related - those circuits should be pretty well separated. Have you tried dimming it with the new ballast in place? The interior lights and dimmer should be fed off of the park/tail light circuit, while the headlights are on a different one...
