q45 audio : smells like burned wires

hey everyone, im new to the nico, yada yada.

anyones i have a dilemma, my car smells like burnt wires, now i sure the smell is coming from the rear of the car, however i wanted to know if thats a common problem in q45. i have plans to already change it, however i just wanted to see if this happens to anyone else. thanks in advance your help

Sounds like a bad wiring job, especially if it's aftermarket. I don't really know if you'll find the answers here. Have you tried posting in the Car Audio section? I haven't heard of burning wires in Q45's, but it may just be a small problem.

I hope you get to the bottom of it. Open the trunk and pull the back panel off (Directly behind the rear seats) and check the condition of the speaker bottoms. Do you have your original Bose system?

its original bose, and when i turn the radio on and off it pops, i think it may be the original amp but im not even sure they came with one. (sigh) i wanna change it anyways but i just wanted to see if that was a common prob

If it smells like dead fish ,it is the caps leaking on the amp boards
