I took my Q45 to a new event in San Diego. check it out! :chuckle: I had a passenger in all 12 of my runs(if they allowed more than 1 I would have run 4 passengers! The e85 tune with 8k rpm redline and the 5-speed made this a lot of fun! I would have to say the Q45 got quite a lot of onlookers and people gathered around every time I parked to ask what kind of car it was

Looks like a great time!

Hate to sound like an a** though but how can you prove you can rev the engine to 8000 RPMs and still have it intact? Can you show us a ECU Talk screen or something?

There is no reason to run a stock internal Q engine to 8,000 rpm anyway, considering max power is produced way lower than that. Sure you may be able to run 8K......but for how long before you toast the engine is a total crapshoot.

Geez, for a real great time, try bumper cars. Requires even more skill!

I don't hold it at 8k, its just for shifting once in a while and having it hit the peak tq when landing on the next gear(causes the back end to come out, little bit of tail waggle. Unless you have a 5-speed z32 tt transmission, and a custom, dyno tuned ecu with optimized vvt, ignition timing and fuel maps, you won't know what you are missing. I put 500 miles on this car every week for the past 6 months on this setup. and have been driving it hard for 2 years before that. It's a great engine.

I'm trying to join in a group dyno session for this Friday, so i can finally show some numbers. Hopefully I can get off work early enough I know the stock ecu settings for gasoline are not the same as what you can do with e85. For example the power curve stays higher, longer than the stock map, able to increase timing quite a bit after peak tq. I'm excited to see what we can do with the vvt setting along with the higher octane level, much more timing and cooler temperatures of the e85.

definitely fun, nothing crazy, just nice to have something like this event in San Diego, since all the Drift venues are dead. I take what I can get, and its a great alternative for all the wannabe drifters who take their cars on the street and crash into poles and cars trying to be initial d speed stars or whatever. I support it, its local, cheap, and fun.
