There's a whole bunch of aftermarket strut boots that fit various nissans over at the local parts store (made by KYB, part numbers are SB101, SB103, SB108) and they're sold in pairs for a really good price. They also seem to be of good quality.

I was hoping to find a pair that fits as replacements in my '94 Q. However all four are torn up and I can't make any reliable side-by-side comparisons... By chance does anyone know which would fit? (For example the SB103 matches the front strut boots of a '95 nissan 240sx...etc.).

(I haven't pulled the struts yet, so I suppose i could take the mount and strut and piece of the old boot and check them for fit once they're off... )

Chances are I'll have to go to the dealer and fork-out $30 a piece but heck, those aftermarkets are $19.00 a pair so, I thought I'd go ahead and ask... ya never know right? :D

Well, let's look at the whole job. Need doing every 8-10 years or when strut cartridges are replaced. Labor time is about 8 hours (good DIY'r, properly set-up. )

Parts cost say $130 for boots (dealer), +$200 for other rubber parts one wants to renew at strut disassembly time, plus another $300-500 for new strut cartridges (no one in thier right mind would disassemble an old strut and not renew the cartridge at that time)

Parts total is therefor about say $600-700 dealer (Scottsdale Infiniti). Labor is a killer another $400 min. So--out of a $1000 job, why would one work real hard to try and save maybe$90 aftermarket strut boots?

Doesn't seem to make much sense.

Planning a parts store visit at the end of the week for fluids, throttle body cleaner, etc... I know the store's got those aftermarket boots and it would be nice to just pick those up too and save a trip to the dealer.

Really -- it's not primarily to save money, but I saw all those strut boots last time I was there and got tempted enough to ask at the risk of sounding cheap/stupid/whatever. :D
