What a week this has been.

I was so excited after I joined Nico. I was going to do all these great things to the car.The rear sway bar, the wheels and tires, reupholster driver’s seat, were all things that were on the menu.

Also, I had finally found the key fobe receiver unit that corresponds to the remote control. It’s that little4""” square silver thing mounted in the trunk. Mine has been out of whack for about 6 months. I hadn’t been able to use my remote in a long time so I was really looking forward to it.A couple weeks ago this guy on ebay had a few auctions on some 94 parts but not that part. So I e-mailed him and at first he thought I was talking about the actual remote. However when he figured out what part it was he e-mailed back saying that he has it and if I would send him $38.00 including shipping, he’d send it out first thing.I was freaking out because back in January someone outbid me on ebay for one of those. He ended up paying $112.50 for it. They’re pretty rare I guess. So you can imagine how stoked I was.

So I take the car to the dealer to get the unit installed, and get an oil change. They call me the next day saying that the unit is not working. So now I’m looking at installation charges plus still no remote. However the dealer gave me a HUGE break so it didn’t cost me much but still no remote. Now I’ve got two non-working ones. And by the way the guy that sold it to me was very upstanding. After I e-mailed a copy of the receipt from the dealer, he immediately refunded my paypal acc.Can ANYONE repair one of these? Q45 Tech, Hitman, guys… help!!!

Yesterday I ordered the rear sway bar, and on my way home I stopped at some discount tire place to check out some wheels and see them “in the flesh”. They matched a great price off of an ebay auction so I went ahead and ordered them. 17x8 Konig Appeal in Opal finish. Clean lines, five spoke, and nice lip.So I get home thinking my wife would be upset about the wheels. We had talked about the bar and she was all right with that, but I thought she would freak with the wheels. To my surprise she was cool with it.

Then all hell broke loose. We had a meeting with the contractor that is supposed to do a bathroom job in our house who is also a friend. It turned out pretty bad. He did not want to itemize his bid. We insisted, so when he finally came up with some itemized #s. It was scary. He wanted to charge $3,000.00 to lay 90 sq. ft of tile. That wasn’t the only suspicious charge. There were others but that one was the shocker. So when my wife started with the detailed questions he got really defensive and then ….offensive and started yelling at her.At that point I told him that if he didn’t change his tone it would be over. He did, but then he did it again at which point I had to kick him out of the house. Some friend….What sucks is that, he’s really good at what he doesSo now we have a garage full of bathroom gear and no contractor.

Today I had an accident with the Q.After dropping off a buddy of mine at the shop to pick up his car, I headed home. I’m southbound driving on the right lane. It’s a big two way, 4 lane street two lanes each way.As I (car #1)’m coming up on the light, it turns yellow. There is another car (car #2) to my left ahead of me. He’s basically blocking my view of the northbound lane car (car #3) that is waiting to turn left (west). He (car next to me #2) decides to stop at the light….good for him.I ( #1 idiot) decided to go for it…. bad for me.So I accelerated thru. But as soon as I could see, there he was (car #3 turning left/west) from the northbound lane. I slammed on the brakes but to no avail. I hit him. And if I’m honest it was more my fault than his. It happened so fast that I’m not even sure if the light was actually red by the time I went thru. It probably was.Usually when I turn left I wait until everyone from the oncoming traffic gets thru. What are you gonna do?The guy was very polite and understanding.

So now I’ll have to spend a whole bunch of that money, that I thought was going for all those other goodies to repair these damages.I don’t want to use my Insurance. I don’t want the premiums to go up. Plus it’s all tied up with our “home owners” policy and we’ve already had a fence claim this year.Anyway…..

Sorry for the long post. I guess I just needed to vent.

Hey, sorry to hear about your week.

Contractors have a bad rep on account of some of them. Same with automotive shops.

The wreck really sucks. Particularly since you know you were partly at fault.

Lord knows I've vented enough here, it does make you feel better if for no other reason than scrawling your feelings on a wall.

Sorry about your Q. I hope the damage is not too much. I feel your pain about the contractor. I've never had a good dealing with a home repair in all my life. So much agravation. Well, as long as no one was hurt in the accident. That's the important thing.

Hopefully we can get your Q fixed up in all aspects...

How bad is the damage??? hopefully a new front bumper and hood will fix you up.....

I dont know if the units could be repaired, you might be able to rip it open and check for messed up solder joints.....

Hey guys,

Thanks for the concern.Luckily no one was hurt. As far as new bumper and new hood, I think that it won’t be necessary, but then again I’m not sure. It doesn’t look like new parts are needed, however I think it’ll need a whole bunch of adjusting, and painting.I wish I knew how to post photos. If I were in my outlook express and was “ e-mailing” someone it’d be easy. Just use the INSERT function and get the photo out of the “MY PICTURES” file. With this layout I’m not sure.

About the receiver unit, I’ll try that Wes. I’m not too mechanically inclined but I’ll definitely check it out.

As far as the contractor, hell we live in LA. Surely I should be able to come up with something. I hope.

Okey,

I emailed them to Wes, but he probably had a difficult time uploading them. He mentioned how huge they were. He also thought damage was minimal

At any rate I was able to upload some of my other pics on the"MEMBERS RIDES UPLINKS", and tomorrow I'll take some more reasonable size ones, and hopefully I'll upload those so you can see.
