Good morning. I have a 1993 Q45t that quickly stopped blowing cold a/c air during a weekend trip. One minute the a/c was fine, then the next I smelled some burnt rubber, then the a/c air went warm. No noises were noticed at all. So, we turned it off and finished our trip. Upon arrival, I parked the car and turned on the a/c, then looked down below the alternator where the compressor is at. I noticed some sparks coming from the front clutch area with a bit of burnt rubber smell again. The air was still warm, so I turned it off for good until it's fixed. My question is the compressor gone or is it just the clutch, or both ? When an a/c compressor goes doesn't it give you more of a warning sign of an upcoming failure than just abruptly quitting ? Thanks, and any help is appreciated.
