I am looking for any tips on how to tackle the replacement of the engine mounts - what has worked for other members, and what no to do ... I already did the transmission mount....Tks!

Use sling/hoist combo to hold engine up higher and remove bottom support cross member.

If you are experienced you can use a rear jack on bell housing and one under crank pulley...................carefully, very carefully.

Q45 Tech,Tks for your feedback. I assume after 125k miles + 13 years these should be replaced. Correct? Is there an easy way to "test" the mounts to see how bad they are (besides removing them and visually inspecting them)?

Again, tks for your help.

Just like every rubber component they need replacing every 10 years or less..................why bother to test..................the drivers side first as the passenger side is just compressed except in reverse..........torque twist.

an excellent post indeed. note the detailed discussion from Robert (DAEDALUS) on the bolt loadings for the front slinger.

afaik, no mortal has done this. i'm tempted, have the slinger and factory bolts, but havent pluged for the 3-point brace. plus, everything is so much harder on active cars......

I read Tangalora's posting....Lots of good information.I plan on using a standard engine hoist (2ton shop crane with the boom and the attachment to properly balance the weight of the engine), with the front end of the car on jack stands. But also plan on placing a couple of jacks under the engine (front pulley and bell housing), as a safety measure.I will be getting the Front Engine Slinger from IoS

Here's Tangalora's oil pan replacement thread for casual readers who might not go to the trouble of searching. It's worth reading just for the heck of it.

In Tangalora's posting there's several references to the estimated weight of the engine - I honestly got a little lost with all the calculations about the specs for the bolts to be used with the slinger....I just ordered them form IoS Does anybody (maybe Dennis?) have a "final answer" on what that estimated weight is? This info is needed when setting up the hoist/boom to make sure that because of the angle and reach you don't exceed the safe operating conditions of the crane.Tks.

Depends on if you leave it attached to transmission since the rear mount bears some of load, less than 750 pounds for sure.

That helps.Yes I plan on leaving it attached to the transmission - the idea is basically to hold/support the engine in place while removing the bottom cross member; maybe lift the engine an inch or so to get the mounts off/on.I understand the crossmember has to come completely off. Is this right? Or can you just loosen it to try to get to the mounts?

First step.

Go to NOM. This is Infiniti and predominately Q45. Not going to get much here for your vehicle.
