Hello everybody!

Wondering if anybody could tell me specifically where in the trunk I can find the wires to plug a Sony OEM cd changer. I understand that they are somewhere behind the paneling in the trunk.

In addition, where would I install the changer (passenger/driver side)?

Please, any help would be appreciated!!

Look in the passenger side well behind the passenger side rear wheel. You will see where the cradle mounts to the cross brace over the cavity (and I think to the body, or another cross brace). I recommend allen head bolts instead of the phillips screws the factory uses to mount the cradle to the case.

I suggest giving Joe at http://www.infinitipartsusa.com a call for the OEM cover for the unit.

Hello Maxnix!!!

Thank you for your reply. Are you saying that the cables are around the antenna mast (passenger side) in the 94 Q45? Please clarify, I am having a hard time finding them.

All the way in the back, by the tail light in the driver's side, I saw three (female) connectors but are not compatible with the sockets in the CD changer.

Please let me know .

Thanks in advance.

The proprietary controller box mounted on the CD player case is where the plug from the head unit wiring assembly is connected.

Hopefully, this connector should be visible when the passenger side trim is removed in the trunk, if not before.

Sorry my memory is so bad. If you don't have the controller box mounted on the outside of the CD player, it won't work any way as it will not interface with the Clarion (Bose designed) head unit.

Thanks a lot!

I bought the changer on ebay and it looks like the controller did not come with it. I just have 3 female plugs in the CD changer case. Looks like it will not work, then.

Thanks a lot for your help.

Does anyone have any pictures of these mounting locations?

Thanks

There is a Sony CD Cahnger on eBay, right now, with a pic of the factory box and connector on it. The bid is over $100 right now.

The brackets bolt to the ends of the unit and keep the unit off the floor. There is also a custom panel that fits around the CD Changer.

Good luck.

Joe - I've gotten ahold of a Sony (B8182-C9968) is this compatible with the 94Q?It came with 3 cables. 1 for the controller (shouldn't need), a long flat 6 wire cable with a 6 pin molex type plug and a long 8 pin (din?/round) missing one end :(. The car seems to have the 12 pin molex type in the trunk, is there something that goes in between all this?Or have I bought the wrong changer?THANKS

Bought a 6 disc changer from http://www.nissanwholesaleparts.com/ (a NICO advertiser)for $120. It worked nicely in my 94Q45. Pluged into the CD connector at the antenna motor from the BOSE console. The changer had a pigtail cable with a matching connector. Had to improvise the mounting as there wasn't a kit and also make a hole in the right side trunk liner to get the cable to the unit. The massive cable that came with the changer was discarded. We mounted the changer on the plastic panel covering the fuel tank inches from the right wheel well. Bought hardware at the local ACE store for a few $$. After it gets out of the body shop I'll put the unit back in. They didn't want it there while working on the car.

The unit is the B8183-C9961PR that is mentioned above.

Good info, but just one question... Do you have to have a special head unit that's optioned/compatible with a CD, or does the stock am/fm have the capability? Thanks TPIt's a '94 Q45t and it would be very nice to play cd's in the car...

Not sure how to say this without souding silly, but my Bose AM/FM cassette has a big CD button on it, tghat's how I know my head unit has CD Changer controller capabilities.
