Q45 - 92 to 96 Door Handle Swap?

How difficult is it to remove & replace the door handles on a 1st Gen Q? I've recently acquired a 96Q to replace the 92Q my wife overheated the engine on.

I'd like to swap the door handles from the 92 to the 96 as the 96 has PLASTIC(!) door handles! I know that MY96 had some cost cutting measures but I didn't realize how EXTENSIVE they were until after I bought the car.

Are you referring to the exterior handles, or interior?

For now, exterior. Do 94-95MY have metal interior door handles? I do like the chrome.

So the 90-95 exterior door handles are chromed medal, and the 96 is plastic?

I can't believe they did so much cost cutting on the 96. Although it was a bad year for Nissan. The year of OBDII and all existing vehicles being cust cut and losing power.

Man, I'll have to look at a 1996 and verify that. Too weird.

You might check with Joe to see if the doors are the same part number. If so the metal ones will probably match up. That's one of the many things I love about my Q - those solid feeling door handles.

I checked my 96q with a magnet today- stuck to inside door handle and lock control lever,stuck also to exterior handle.?]

My 96Q also has metal handles inside and out, the car was built 09/95.
