Car is at the dealers again. Had it in for the handling and thequality of the ride...which made the car hard to hold on the road.Floating feeling from side to side. They found rear shocks leakingand replaced both. Took it on a trip this weekend and it almostmakes you sick to ride on long journeys. The car feels like it isgetting away from you when you go over bumps and shakes you from sideto side. I placed the car on sport and it is more manageable but notthe best ride. The tech at the dealer wants me to take him for atest ride because he cannot find anything wrong with the car. Am Ijust spoiled with the ride of my old '94 Q45 or is there somethinggoing on with the stabilization on this car? Does it really handlethat bad?

Something is wrong.

They handle very well when everything is working right.Sounds almost like bushings but the car is too young for that..

I think Palmer is on to something. Are there not shock mounts on the FY33? Something is not right, and your dealer's senior technician should be able to identify it.

4.5- 5 years means its time to replace the front shocks also! Pretty much everything rubber is shot if the rears are leaking from stress.

Are you running the Oem Michelin Z4 tires?

I just had a test drive with the tech and he could feel what I was talking about but he had us take out a 2001 Q45t with the same milage on it and it handled worse then ours! I just said my husband would be getting back with them and left. Oh yeah he also felt what I was talking about in traffic when you put your foot on the gas and take it off and it feels jerky. He said they all did that and the newer models have taken care of that kind of stuff. Something about the torque convertor on the transmission not releasing soon enough. He also told me this year does not like short trips and that might be the reason it runs rough on cold mornings!! Short story is that my husband has called the 1-800 number to complain. Will he get anywhere with that...?

Q45tech...They had a recall on the wheels of this car and they were changed in June 03. They have cooper tires on it.

They dont all do that probaly needs new shocks up front and maybe bushings.

Or a good inspection of suspension by capable tech.

I Fixed my S13 which walloed all over the place with new shocks springs (all around) and new bushings.

Handles on rails in all situations now.

Also about "not liking short trips" nonsense:No car likes 'em especially no 32 valve hi performance V8, but that' s all fixable:

1)Probaly have some build up in combustion chamber ( fixed by a couple minutes of 120 mph driving)

2)Intake could probably do with a good fogging (B&G)

3) Your injectors have likly become clogged at this point also, Fixed (hopefully) by a railflush.

Cooper Tires is a BIG red flag! Try upgrading to something equal or exceeding OEM specifications. Do some reading of the previous posts by doing a search on tires. Read everything Q45tech has posted in particular.

My wife's 2000 Q45 was shod with some no-name, S rated, molded from donkey dung tires. She could not believe the difference with Firestone SZ50 EP expertly mounted and balanced by moderator Phil Smith, which included a 4 wheel alignment.__________________Brian1995 Q45 & Q45t & 2000 Q45
