I have pushed the release pedal all the way to the floor and the doggone pedal will not release. Is there a manual release button or any suggestion that might help. I'm stuck!
Thanks,
upchuck

Never happened to me with my Q but on other cars it has. Try shifting from drive to reverse a few times. Other than that check the cable.

Pull the"brake release" handle located on lower left side of dash above the actual parking brake pedal.

If you're in a cold climate, the parking brake cable might be frozen. Also happens to door locks and transmission gear selector cables and linkages.

You could try the Siberian Solution: Pile some dry brush, twigs and leaves under your car, set it on fire, wait for the parking brake to thaw out enough to release, and drive your car off the fire before it becomes part of a MUCH LARGER fire. Image

There is no "brake release handle". The parking brake is released by pressing on the parking brake foot pedal a second time. This is what is not working. I have owned the Q45 for 10 years never even a close call with this problem. I need to find an emergency release as there must be a ratchet type lock that can be manually released but so far it eludes me.

Lay off the crack pipe,or go back to kindergarten............every 1990-1996 q45 operates its parking brake release in the manner I described in my earlier post.

No crack pipe, kindergarten may be appropriate but with very gray hair and 74 years old they may not let me attend class!! Senility is getting very close - Have been trying to resolve this in a parking lot at night (sober). My other car has the brake release with the emergency brake pedal. Low and behold in the daylight the lever "Brake Release" was very clearly marked and sho nuff, it worked. Thanks to all who offered an old guy suggestions, especially qship96 for being persistent with his advice even though comments were a little crude (but fitting).

Being rude and negative is very common on not only the Q45 forum but the entire internet. Seems people take pride in their negativity. Unless you are the original owner of your Q then to some you are looked upon as inept. I assumed you knew about the release handle and though it was more than that. Do you live in one of the southern states where they don't perform yearly inspection stickers? I can't imagine you never using your e-brake nor knowing how to release it.

I'm glad we could help, and :welcome: to NICO!

My wife's G35 parking brake works exactly as you described yours. It's thrown me for a loop a couple of times coming from her car to the Q.

Thanks for all of the nice comments!! I actually do feel a bit like an idiot as I have used and released the e-brake many, many times but I got myself caught up in believing the e-brake was truly stuck and couldn't get past it. This started in minus 11 degree temps and was trying to solve this for two nights in temps below 10. My other vehicle does work this way and I just got confused and couldn't work through the problem logically. I feel younger and more alert today (hee-hee) Wonderful help on the forum. Thanks for making me feel a little better Heath!

Thanks all!! upchuck
