Will fuel rails and injectors for newer Q45 fit a 1991? Would the matching harness fit, or would it have to be spliced? Has anyone tried the Deatsch injectors and adaptors?

I am doing the "replace everything under the plenum" job. Two injectors were bad and the engine was running rough. I have read many posts about the trouble people have had with the older injectors. This car has always lived with MTBE and/or ethanol in the gasoline, 110,000 miles.

I do not want replace just two and then need to to pull the plenum again, so it seems like the options are: replace all with Original Equipmentreplace all with Deatsch (newer style with adaptors)replace all and rails with pulls from a newer style Q45?replace rails and use newer year OEM injectors?

Spending some money now is worth it to avoid trouble later.

I have not seen this really answered in previous posts.

I did the modification last year and it was not that big of a deal . That being said I now have a dead injector it is not reading high ohms though must be another problem. I would suggest using new injectors instead of the rebuilt ones. I dont think the fuel affects the newer )94) injectors there probably some other problem with mine.By the way my Q is for sale in the classifieds.

I wish everyone thought that way.

what do you mean "the modification"? Did you use Deatsch adaptors, or did you use a newer fuel rail? Do you know what years will fit?

Yes I used the Deatsch adapter kit with the 91 fuel rails. It is really easy. Dont know why it is missing again the injectors ohm out ok. You should buy mine I probably have 8k in it

90-93 used one style of injector, and the 94-96 used an updated design. The 94-96 will fit but require that they be used in their rails, and they use a different subharness. No word on anything newer than that.

I think the Deatusch adpators are just a way to use the old subharness on the newer style injectors... which seems like a lot of effort vs. just buying an all new subharness for something like $100. There are new 90-93 style injectors on eBay for about $65 each, so I think that's the way I go when mine die from corngas exposure.

I've had several sets failed on my 160K 1990. Two of the injectors on the most recent new set from the dealer failed within 10K miles.

I think the most practical solution is to buy a used fuel rail with injectors and harness for a 94-96 ( I got mine for $100) and have them cleaned and tested by Deatusch werks ( approx. $150). Also you will need to modify the lower runner washers to ensure a proper seal. If you are thinking of buying the Deatusch werks kit I have a new one I could sell you for a substantial discount.

Sorry for the delay in the thread.

Now I am stuck driving the 2002 Buick Century while looking for parts.Anyone have a 94-96 Q set on injectors, rails and harness to sell?

Just for fun I searched some Buick forums..... wow, the questions are dumb! (at least for the newer models; the classics have a decent enthusiast following)Also, there does not seem to be a central place like NICO - the various forumshave small participation and the information is spread between them.

Until I made the comparison, I didn't fully realize what a unique and awesome thing NICO is.

"Modify the lower runner washers" Do you mean a simple trimming of the 1991 washers, or the 1994 washers, or something more than that?
