I was at the local rice fest at the drag strip Weds and I took the Q for a pass. I took the bad lane with my brother sitting shotgun and staged against a random 20ish kid in a 98ish Mustang GT. I did far bigger of a burnout than was called for  and moved up. This was actually the first time I shut the traction control off on the Q. I usually leave it there to yell at me on the street. If I see the slip light, I'm being a jerk again. I lock it in 1st and we launch. I got the jump on the stang off the line, but he was right with me the whole way. He was at my front door when I hit 7.5k in first and kicked 2nd, getting a little jump on him. We finished the 1/8 mile (lame I know) with him just behind my fender. I pulled around and stopped for my timeslip, but they apparently don't do timeslips for rice fest, even though they charge $5 for a single pass. My brother asked the Mustang what he ran and they said just under 10. I certainly wasn't gonna pay $5 for another run if I wasn't going to get a 1/4 cent printout of my times. At least the crowd got a big kick out of it. I'm headed back up there this weekend to shoot Battle at the Border again this year, so I'll get some passes and timeslips.

While I was doing my burnout the announcer said " Someone wants to get a new set of tires tonight."

just under 10's?

I was gonna laugh then remembered it's 1/8 mile.

My EP can catch high 10's if I drive it right.

Indeed, my 250 Ninja can beat that...

Sounds like you raced an automatic though.

Eh, I'm not saying it was the fastest 1/8th mile ever. The point I was trying to make was how bad this kid failed at driving his Mustang. He had a 5sp. HE just wasn't very good with it. I lol'd when I beat him. I mean I have an 18 year old 2 ton luxury sedan with 151k miles on it, all stock, had a passenger, windows down and sunroof open. It was a fun run, got to play a little in my DD. I just couldn't believe I actually beat him. I did go back today but they went back to a $5 per pass policy and I spent most of my time on the track or sitting down. I took over 700 pics of the drifters. I'll get a write up done tonight or tomorrow.

lol....the launch is the hardest part.

there's an art to launching a manual car and nailing the hole shot.

I wanna go back to the strip I know I can cut some more perfect RT's
