The 95 Q’s filter is simply a pickup with a mash screen similar to kitchen wire colander but not woven as tightly. The filter is more like a screen than an actual filtering device. Since the design only lends itself to screening out large particles that may have accumulated over time most if not all of these particles will drain out when you remove the plug.
In my case, the technician removed one of the lines running to the radiator and inserted a hose over it. Then he retrieved a white oil filter and proceeded to flush the system until both him and I agreed that the fluid flowing over the white oil filter was completely red indicating a very thorough flush and using more than 20+ quarts of Mobil 1 ATF. (I thanked him and showed him my appreciation for his time and extra effort).
I am not trying to disagree with others that have given you advice. I am just relating my personal experiences.
My transmission went from sloppy shifts to new-car performance.
A lot of people think the screen traps nothing, but Q45tech cut into one and observed it under a microscope and lo, what did he see? Trapped particles! So changing the screen and wiping down the depsoits on the pan bottom do serve a function. Should be done at least every second flush or 30 K miles minimum.
How did your contaminated fluid appear? I like the Sun machine that uses clear hoses so one can easily compare the outgoing fluid color to the incoming fluid color.
If your shifts improved that dramatically, I guarantee that you had significantly degraded fluid and you still have deposits on the inside of your pan and dome in your screen filter.
