Q29 Roadster

One year in New York, this 29 Ford rolls in to go up on the Turntable for the show, a Ford I sad, lol. It came in like 3rd place at Autorama, a custom show held in Detroit every every years, it took best of show. It had a engine and trans in it, not sure exactly what year but it looked like my 95. Beautiful car. I wonder where it’s at today.

Must have been long ago. I just read about this car. It won some awards back in 1994. It was a one-off street rod tribute show car project. Handsome and well done. A Ford roadster look with a vintage midget racecar nose grafted on. The Borrani wire wheels were a classy touch (fwiw, Borrani wires were standard on '50's and 60's Ferraris). According to what I read, the builder was planning to use a then new GM supplied zr1 corvette motor but GM backed out. He ended up getting a 2 yr old V8 + drive train from a "written off" '92 Q45 from Infiniti and chromed it. So Infiniti using it in an ad is a bit of a stretch, but it is a nice looking rod. As far where it is now, my guess is in a private collection in a dry area, as it's not a particularly useable street car.

That was the literature they handed out in NYC. I didn’t se many customs at the shows there was a Qx56 DrJeckyl & Mr Hyde in DC one year. It was 2 vehicles that traveled together. I think it was 1997.

It would not surprise me if Infiniti featured this custom rod at several auto shows back then due to the absence of any manufacturer concept cars.

It's been at SEMA before. I've seen it at least once, maybe twice.

Torry's father (former NNA employee) knows the builder and knows a little more about the car...

It wasn't my dad that knows him. It was my dad's former coworker that knows him. However, I found out recently that former coworker also has retired from Nissan. I'm sure I can try to get more info about it thought for anyone interested. Is there something specific you guys are looking to know about it?

like many old show cars, it looks like it ended up at auction at least once. Most recently appears to have been Mecum in St. Charles IL in October 2008. If Mecum still has the sale information after 12 years, the most I think you'd ever to get out of them (if anything at all) is the sold price, that is, if it even sold. So unless you have a vin #, it'd be very difficult to find it now, especially if it was never registered. Not exactly a register-able car. Sorry.
