Dana's 93 Tracer lost a timing belt the week before our wedding back on the 20th - so I finally got around to getting Q1 retitled and insured and picked up a temp. plate when we got back from Hawaii.

It's kind of cool driving her again. It amazes me how there's very little difference between Q1 at 199K and Q2 at 75K mechanically! I need someone with the nads to race me in one or the other to see if one is faster than the other... I swear Q1 seems a little quicker, but I'm not sure it it's just that it makes a little more noise or something.

The car started right up after sitting for almost two years. I did start her up and drive it in the neighborhood every few months since 10/2003 though...

I picked a hell of a week to break Dana in on premium gas with a big V8 though...

Yeah congrats on that!

Curious: How many miles on the Tracer? I know someone with a '95 who's been reluctant to get the belt changed.

Congrats on getting the car back on the road (where it belongs) and also in the whole marriage thing!

I knew it was never going to be sold!

The Tracer has about 180K on it. I know the belt was replaced back in 2000 before she drove it to an internship in MN, along with a new head gasket, t-stat, water pump, etc. I think it had over 100K on it at that time, but Dana's automotive record keeping isn't exactly as "complete" as mine...so I don't know for sure.

I think the water pump may have seized, causing the belt to strip. The car has been trickling a small puddle of water on that side of the engine ever since the tow truck dropped it off at my house. I'm not sure what engine is in your friend's Tracer, but this one is a 1.9L. The good news is that the engine is non-interference, so I may spend about $50 at Autozone for a new belt and water pump to get it running again. That way we'll have a prayer of selling it!

P.S. Thanks for the congratulations from everyone.

At $3.47/gallon she might! If nothing else if I fix her car I may have her drive it with "For Sale" signs in it until I can get it sold... maybe we'll find someone who wants a cheap car.

She did seem to enjoy being able to drive some of her co-workers to lunch today in style. I think she has avoided having people in the Tracer, which was a good idea.
