Hey All!

Long time since i been by.

My car has been working great for a long time now, but i have noticed that she whines quite a bit on acceleration until its hot. And now that i think about it it doesent really stop, it just gets quieter. Not sure if that all do that or not? just wanna make sure its running good and isnt trying to tell me something. BTW.. i had my fuel injector seal for #8 done at the dealership, and i can still smell fuel inside my car at times, and it looks wet still around the old leak, would that old stuff dry up by now, should i take it back?

Thanks CT

Where does it whine from ? Trans fluid low? Idler pulley bearing bad ?

O-ring is still leaking, take it back. Bummer. What did they nail you for that?

Imperative to let the car reach operating temperature before....well...operating it.

It wasn't too bad at all really i think it was about $130.00, and i think of those suggestions my bet would be on transmission fluid, havent checked it in ages! Better do that tommorow. And i allways warm it up, even in my mild climate of the west coast. But it just gets it warm unless i let it run for at least 20 minutes. And i can't be doing that with gas prices the way they are. lol

Thanks,CT

I've heard that it's not good to let a car sit and idle in order to warm up. Can anyone confirm or debunk this? Those who say never gave and explanation.

I hear the whine on all Q's... it's the transmission pump. Some are more sensitive to it than others I guess. Noticed it on Q1 through three different transmissions - and on Q2 as well. It sounds like a Furd power steering pump and I think it's safe to say that some whine is normal. Definately worse at ambient temperatures below 60F. The gas smell is probably related to the fuel hoses under the plenum... also more common when it's cold. You can try tightening the hose clamps if you can reach them - but the ultimate solution is replacing the hoses.

I was pretty low on trany fluid, it took a whole quart. Its whining alot less now. I had the feeling it was trying to tell me something.

Ill check that out about the hoss under the plenum, hopefully wont have to do that job!

I had a fuel hose slightly seep gas when cold under the plenum. I didn't feel like pulling the intake again so I put some auto transmission seal conditioner on the trans dipstick and dripped it onto the offending hose where it clamped onto metal line. I let it sit in the student parking lot for a week and I haven't had the fuel smell since. That's surely a band-aid only though. So long as the line doesn't rupture itself, I'll wait for the next injector that requires plenum removal to fail before replacing it.
