I would get the darkest legal limit all the way around. I made the mistake once before in the past of not gettng the darkest, it wasn't long before I wished I had opted for the darkest. It'll keep the car cooler, preserver your interior and looks good on any car. Just stick with the standard black tint, none of that mirror stuff.

Here in AZ the dealers appear to apply a tint manufactured by 'Huber Optics'. It looks to be real high quality and really nice in the bronze. It runs about $500.

There are mixed opinions on whether metallic tints interfere with radar detector effectiveness, so keep that in mind if you have a radar detector.

Most good tints have metal in them, but doesn't necessarily mean it'll give a reflective look.

A very basic grey would look great on a silver car. Law in Georgia is 35% max. Tint shops will know what's legal and what's not.

Here in California, front driver and passenger windows and windshield cannot be tinted much at all - for the front side windows, a max of 30% tinting is allowed, I believe. Rear windows and glass can be pretty darn dark, though.

So, I have my rear door windows and the rear windshield (what does one call it?) glass at 90%. I wanted to get as dark as possible since my son is a bit sunlight sensitive.

The rear windows are working well for me, but, in hindsight, the rear windshield glass became too dark. At night, it is not easy to see whether the lights behind you belong to a police car or not! And it is more difficult to reverse at night, etc.

As a result, I would recommend no more than 50% for the rear glass, with rear windows at 90%!

Oh, yeah, forgot to mention that I avoided the metallic tint stuff. I want my rear-facing Valentine 1 radar detector to work! :D

I use to work for a company that made OEM vacuum deposition equipment for architectual and automotive glass manufacturers(not the film applied stuff!). If the film does not have any metallic elements as part of its constitutients then 'e' value (emissivity) of job will not provide you with the protection from the "rays" you seek. Bottomline, radar or not to radar.

The rear glass is called a "backlight".

I'm looking at buying a V1, my 7 year old Pasport 5500 (i think that's right... first text one) is acting a little squirly sometimes. How do you like your Valentine One? I'd say it's the most tightly controlled distribution system I've ever seen for a product. I have never found a product that I couldn't find at a discount before this one!

P.S. You're right about the metallic film reducing radar sensitivity, but the V1 site also mentions that it's not unusual for factory glass to also reduce the range...

I went with Johnson's 50% metallicized tint. I think it gives a VERY classy look. It's not super dark and not super light, and just enough to set it off. I've been using tint for many years and this is one of my favorites.

As you can see below, lighting plays a big part.
