With the recent (and sad) departure of a few Q owners and the national statistic of 2.? years of average car ownership, I was wondering how long your guys have owned your Q. I know that we have some longtimers here, but what is the average for a Q owner before he gets the urge to buck up for something new?

I have had mine 4.5 years. Hope to keep it at least 4 more.

One of the things that keeps me happy with the car (beyond the performance and design) is the clearly superior paint job. My car's origination date is 9/93, so its almost 10 years old. However, my paint still looks better than almost all new American cars on the lot, and most foriegn.

So how long have you had yours?

Had our '94 for about 4.5 years now too.

I second the paint. It's great. There are several chips up on the front, but that's due to my wife's bad habit of near-tailgating at 80+ mph!

Bought a 91Q new in March 1991 and traded it in in August 1998 for a 95Q (lease return at the dealer). Which I still have. So, effectively, I have been driving a Q (of one year or another) for about 12 years.

I am trying to keep it in good shape, but the extended warranty expired at 100k miles, and I am getting a bit frustrated with the cost of keeping it going in good shape. I think that next year, I will get a new G35 or 350Z ... just can't afford/justify a new Q45 or M45.

Bought mine November 01. I'll keep it until November 04 when the warranty expires, then I'll decide what to do with her - Depending on whether the transmission has gone by then and whether I still have access to a cheap mechanic.

bought mine January '01. i plan on keeping it for as long as possible, unlike my previous two cars that i only kept for 2 1/2 years total. i may buy another car soon, but it will not replace the Q. a local used car place has a 280zx with a lot of miles for $650. if it runs ok i may buy it, but only if they take less than $500 for it.

Purchased my '92 Q in Dec. 1999, so a little more than 3 years. Will not get rid of it unless I have a major lifestyle change (like a job which requires a "nice car" and subsidizes it too).

Can't find a new car around $30K which I like (or can fit in) -- can't afford one anyways!! :D

I'm in love all over again after driving a Maxima SE rental car for a week -- esp. my telescopic wheel which keeps me from having to decide between cramped knees (seat too close) or a sore back (seatback too upright). Lesson learned!

Bought my 90Q in November 93 for 17,800 with 42k miles...

Now just shy of 150k....keeping it until a major repair like transmission, a/c or when the chain guides fail.

On my list: getting the Bose speakers/amps redone

Bought my 97' in April 2000 and have no plans to replace it, I'm hoping for at least 5 more years. I just got my dad's 92' that he bought in 1998.

My history with cars is to drive them forever. I have a 19 year old 300ZX that still looks cherry and just made it 10 years with my 85' maxima that has 275k on it and it still runs great....

This is my 10th year of ownership; bought my 90Q in 1993. Prior to that, had changed cars about every 2-3 years. Previous cars included Toyota Supra, Cressida, Mazda Protege (what was THAT all about?) MGB, 240Z, 280Z, BMW 2002...However, I have yet to find a car that I would rather drive than my current Q.

Bought Q1 in August of 1996 with 83K to replace my totaled 91 Maxima. Although I'll probably sell her soon - Q2 will be around a long time - has to be to justify the expense! I thought a lot about another later Q, but just really enjoyed the early versions, so when I found a low mileage replacement I just couldn't pass it up.
