I had a guy offer me good money on my 99 Q with 190k on it yesterday so i sold it. I'll miss it but I was ready for a change. Now in the market for a nice 740 IL. Really the only car IMO that can even compare to a G50.

Your gonna have to change your avatar stuff. No longer "Driving it till the wheels fall off."

Sorry to see it go. Why not get you an older G50 as a project.

I love the G50. I really do. If they made a G50 newer, like a 99-00 I would be all over it.

The G50's are just to old.

Day in and day out.

Good luck with the 740iL. I would go withteh 740i, as rear seat room is a minor concern for me.

When I had my good running 93 g50, my dad handed me my *** in his 740. The Q did ok but the bmw won both times.

I like the look of the IL vs. the I. Bigger is better.

Must not of had a tip-top VH45DE then.

Bigger is slower. But there are always faster and slower cars, so I don't see it as being abig deal either way.

I wanted a 740. I would have been a 19 year old stunting in a big body Beamer.

I still look longingly after a sweet 7-Series when it passes by. But I don't think I'll trade my Q. My car turns heads boy!

I don't know how much more tip top the G50 could have been. I spent a lot of loot to get her running perfect. Injectors, maf, fuel pump. she was running fine. 740 still took it.

It's a beautiful car. I love it. I wish that i could own one and my Q. Everyone told me that the E38 would kill my wallet in upkeep. I found some sub-100k ones but my parents were quite reluctant to let me have one.

I love those 7 series cars. Sorry to hear you sold your car - do remember to share pictures of your E38 when you get one.

Grrr. So jealous. Oh well. I still plan on getting an e38 and a second generation Ranger Rover (1995-2001) in the near future.

I think Q's would give you less costs overall. Ive read up on the 7's and they have some issues but overall theyre decent cars... The 5 speed auto makes all the difference in the world.

Personally, I wouldnt get a 7, but rather a 5.

I like bigger cars. The wierd thing is, you can get a 7 for less than a 5. Very strange.

The 5 has always been produced in higher volumes than the 7 and has a stronger used car demand.

The sad part is that there are parts that are exactly the same on a 7 and 5 except for the part number, but you pay more at the counter for the 7. If you know the parts, YOU CAN SAVE BIG $$$

The 7 is spacious and quite a big car and most people tend to want to drive a smaller car in the city,, so they opt for a 5.

A 7 tends to be better serviced than a 5 and so clean examples can be found all the time. Most 7 owners service their cars at the dealer and have the money to pay. Also 7 owners don't beat up their cars as much as 5 owners.

That's been my experience.

Word. I can get a good one downhere for about 8 grand.

I first fell in love with the e38 in 1995. When James Bond used the 750 in Tommorrow Never Dies.

They are really common around here. I see them all the time. But G50's are a rarity. I see more Y33's than G50's.

I've been battling with this decision. And you sound alot like me...just today for example.

My '90 is virtually problem free and very clean but still feels like it's getting too old. I think my boss and corrupted my mind when he said that a butting young exec at his company should drive a more prestigous car....funny he didn't follow up that comment with a raise. The only thing that i'm holding on to, is, 1. no car payment, and 2. the speed.

I like the '00 style RL's, but the low Hp and front wheel drive is discouraging me. My second choice is between a y33 and 99-01 lexus but the aftermarket prices for the lexus' are sometimes absurd...to me.

Has anyone driven the RL?

If the RL drives anything like the TL from the same year, its completely unspecial.

Just wondering... how are either of those cars an upgrade from a G50?

If you're a budding new exec, I think you might want something European. But don't limit yourself to Germany though. England produces some very nice cars, yeah?

Try a Jaguar XK8, or maybe a Range Rover. I suggest a second gen one. They looked the best. The third gen looked like ****e, and the fourth/current one went back to the 2 gen concept but i guess tried to make it "sportier" and more "futuristic" and it still looks kinda stupid. At least to me.

But I'm sure you can find a nice E38, or a nice S-Class Mercedes.

There's many things about the '90Q that I find special. The way it's held up after 17 almost 18 yrs is remarkable and in contrast many newer cars can't compete. However, there are features that i don't have, that i wish i did, ex. more airbags, compass, tcs, better child restraints, autooff lights, hell i just wished i had clear headlight and taillight lenses... Just to name a few. Something like navigation or steering wheel controls are secondary but nice and many turn of the millenium cars have all these features and more... not to mention cuuphooolders oooh wished i had one of these.

There's more to a car than a bangin engine even though I need some go getta under the hood too. I untimately want to hold on to my Q until it turns 20yrs old, but in the mean time i'll need a newer looking car with more features.

I feel you. My biggest complaint is the lack of cupholders. I think I'll hold on to mine until it turns 20, fix it up to stock and call it a classic.

RL is a waste to tell you the truth. Not worth it IMO.

J u already know where I stand on the 7. I love it. For the price they are going for you cant say no either.

Y33 just isnt enough for me

BMW will be my next vehicle.

By the way I love my LS and if you dont like my body style get the 98. My 92 still drives nice though and is peppy enough for me.

Personally, I hate the Y33 body. Unless its severely VIP, its ugly to me.

I really only like the G50 body. I wish that Infiniti and other aftermarket companies would release some more aftermarket parts for it.
