I posted this in technical section, but no response, so i reposted here:

*Searched, i couldn't find what i was looking for..

I have a 1993 s13 and going to get a 1995 s14 chassis, i want to swap the KA24de from s13 to s14. What all mods/fabrication do i need to do to get it to fit/work properly?would the ecu from the s13 work in s14? vice-versa?

also:Would a 01 Frontier KA24 be swappable to the s13? what all would i have to do?

If you find links i didn't, please post them, your help is greatly appreciated

Thanks

Its a plug and play swap. Just use all the emissions and stuff from the s14 car onto the other block. The only differences between the s14 and s13 KADEs are the valve covers and other very minor things.

mounts are the same. you can either use the s13 head and block only and retain everything else from your s14 as long as its 95-96, OR you can swap all of the harness, manifolds, ecu, etc... from the s13.

frontier motor is technically possible but you would have to use s-chassis oil pan and sump, timing covers (may require modification), etc... basically NOT worth the cost and trouble. i believe you lose the oil squirters (if that matters to you), get a lower cr and different cams not really suited for the car you're driving.

if ur swapping over the trannyand motor all together then its a straight drop i... ull also need to carry over the upper and lower harnesses...

...well actually...what year is the s14... if its an OBDI S14 (early 95) then the harnesses are the same just drop in the motor...send me a pic of the distributer in the s14 ka and the valve cover...thats the easiest way to determine obdI or II

B4 i get bitched at about the OBDI s14 comment its true...do ur research if u question it...

everything is the same exept:

you need to swap: s14 tps, exhaust mani for s14 if you are using s14 down pipe,if you still want the heater, redo the heater hoses to fit , cuz s14 hoses are thicker than s13, need to change distrubitor from a s14, cuz s13 has external coil, s14 does not, you need a s14 maf, if you still want a/c you need to swap over the s14 compressor bracket to the s13 block,, and thats it,

Im wondering the same question, I'm about to do the same on a buddies car. we are yanking his dohc KA out of his 1991 s13 and putting it in a 1995 s14. If it is as simple as just pulling the motor with harness out of the s13 and plugging it back in s14 then that is awesome.

His transmission is F'd so we have a s14 5 speed so we'll have to deal with that but what about the other things like...

is there a way to keep the external coil or must me swap the distributor?

why change to the s14 maf if using the S13 harness on the s13 motor?

ANY advice that will make this swap easier please I'll take it.
