so i was thinking that the only reason that we cant get S15's and GTR's here in the states is cuz nissan never relesed them here but they did bring the s13 and 14 here so it would be like honda guys that bring real type r'S here right. so if i find a nice q's or k's and do the window swap and change the doors out i should be good right?? they have all the crash test stuff and all that.. idk what do you guys think??.... im just thinking out loud so i didnt check the search or anything

If only it were that easy to pass DOT crash test standards

Are you just trying to get a RHD silvia? probably easier to buy a front clip and do the swap then attempting the nightmare of importing a car from japan

you also have to deal with the car not meeting u.s. emissions standards nor having a u.s. dot vin anywhere on the chassis. believe me, if it were that simple, there would be a lot more jdm s-chassis cars driving around this side of the pond.

Best bet is to buy a car already registered in the states. It will be a lot easier to make legal in your state if it is already registered in another state. Good luck. Also, google jdm auto import.

Well the vin is on the firewall..... Burn there the window vin is on the dask.... so no go with that if its RHD. And the door sil.

I know the owner of Elite JDM. He swapped his coupe into a RHD silvia. Just to be somewhat legal..

Vin swapping the car is Illegal, but doing a RHD swap, retainging you vin plate on the firewall, and stamp isn;t as illegal. And if you know how to swap the dash vin which isn't so bad why not..

You could swap the dah vin plates, the engine bay vin plate and puc and weld the firewall vin stamps from a USDM car to the JDM.... but then you need two cars.

You live in the USA, just drive it the American way.

i read up on the whole " Kit Car " thing you know takeing the car apart and putting it back together again. that don't sound half bad. it would be just like the guys that build Ferrari Dino's and old hi boys out of mags right. you could have a GTR or a S15 with a LS1 or a Greddy KA-T. that i could live with

^Wrong Edit: Above K's Post

If It Was In Production In Another Country You Can't Label It As A Kit Car.

The Latest Version Of The Dino Was Available For Importation Since 2001.

Cause It's Already More Then 25 Years Old.

I mean you could pull some sketchy stuff but i dont advise any of that. I have seen skylines registered as 240 coupes. People get away with it but for how long? lol. and I would chekk on consequences of being caught. Not worth it to me.

Again I don't think its thats straightforward or you would be seeing plenty of skylines driving around as "kit cars" That kaizo outfit seems to be the best legit option if you have 30-40k to drop a striped down version of a skyline, they used a kaizo skyline in fast and furious 4

Why bring in an S13 or S14 when you can just buy a 240sx? And swap it.

Why take the long way round?JDM S13/4 is the same sh.t as an American one swapped.

Maybe theres less rust on a JDM car? Because I hate rust. Let me rephrase that.

I

HATE

RUST.

I would get a JDM chassis and put my LHD firewall on it just to have a cleaner car. As long as they have less rust then mine. I mean technically I just rebuild my chassis and used all my USDM parts right....

^^Theres your answer.

There is no logical reason to work so hard for an S13-4.
