Had the car packed and ready to go to T3 last Friday (1100 miles !) Friday got too late, got up on Saturday with a headache, decided that was not the way to start an 1100 mile drive. Sunday was too late, so put off the trip. Pulled into my long term local mechanic on Wednesday to get some of the work done, and as soon as it's up on the lift, he says hey, you water pump is leaking, better get a new one. In the shop is the best place for a breakdown ! Who knows how far I would have gotten out of town before the water pump seized or lost enough coolant to notice. I'll get to T3 eventually, maybe set the record for furthest trek. 154K on that water pump, not too bad really. It made no noises, but it could barely be turned by hand after it came out. Amazingly, the inside of the pump was free of deposits, new shiny metal. Very nice on a 10+ year old car. Did the transmission mount, as it was broken and collapsed. Didn't really notice the difference ! Did the upper links & tension rod bushings, it feels tighter, but still creaks on a hard bump. Sway bar bushings & links were new last year, as were shocks, what else is left to creak up there ? Put on the Arctic Alpins & a block heater threaded into one of the block drains, ready for the cold !Mine is the only Q this mechanic has worked on, he volunteered that it was nice to work on a good car (compared to all the usual Dodges & Fords).

Sounds like you're taking care of business properly and you've got the right wrench. If you're trans mount was that bad, your motor mounts are probably toast too. I'll bet you'll notice the difference after you replace those!

Glad to hear we have another Q owner taking care of his investment. To save alot get a shop manual. It will help you and your local mechanic. When was your last tune-up (plugs, O2 sensors.). Order the plugs online for around $10 each NGK only. You can also get the )2 sensors at a discount on line too.You didn't mention cleaning the intake or throttle body. Most of the guys here use the BGK cleaner. I personally take it off and clean it. The spider (your plenium) needs to be cleaned and will make a difference it how it performs. From the 10+ years it must be a 90-92 model. Cam chaiin tensioners are the most important thing you can do now if you haven't or the prevous owner did not have them upgraded. >>>..>>>>>>>>>>>>>>:thumup
