#1 My heater blows cold air immediately instead of waiting for the coolant to warm up. Would this be a water temp sensor, if so which one? If it's the one on the heater box, is this readily accessable?

#2 What's the best lube for the antenna mast? Penetrating oil appears to have destroyed the black bushing around the mast, requiring replacement of the whole unit.

For #2 I use a lock lubricant spray with graphite & teflon, works great. I think the dealer uses Q45a active suspension fluid (mineral oil). I'd lean towards something non-greasy. WD-40 might be good to clean it up. But nothing like a new mast... only $25-30.

The fan normally comes on a lowest setting after 60-90 seconds whereas the next speed increment requires at least 90F coolant. Which might take 3-4-5 minutes depending on coolant start temp and engine speed.

Follow the test proceedure in your manual to read the resistance = temp chart of the sensors vs the Consult reading of engine coolant temperature. Never seen a failure, but sure there are some out of 100,000 vehicles.

You need to supply more data: ambient temp, soak time, coolant temp.

#1 The fan comes on immediately, ambient about 45°F, sat in garage overnight, coolant 60°F. HVAC self test shows all sensors OK, which sensor should I resistance check?

#2 WD40 destroyed black plastic bushing in base, new mast won't be enough. Replacement is on the way ($130), don't want to buy another one!

Follow the test proceedures in your service manual, might try substituting the fan control amp module.

The black plastic bushing you mention - is this on the outside of the car surrounded by chrome? If that's all that's wrong, it can be replaced separately. I replaced mine once just because the old one was scratched...
