Finalized the deal today. Bought MinisterofDoom's Q. It's been through a few different NICO members (REX and MoD) that I know of. I'm having the transmission looked over before I bring it up to Idaho.

Chris is not at all what I expected after years of reading his posts, but he is a good guy.

I'm pumped to be part if the Q club now, especially with the history this car has.

The only thing I want to do right away, other than fix the transmission, is find a new factory steering wheel.

Nice! I was looking at the car, but I didnt know how our smog regulation here in California would do with a non-California car.

I will be up in Caldwell/Napa area in thanksgiving time, I would love to see your 240 and talk with another member. Hopefully I'll drive up with my Q45, but we will see. You are lucky up there because there were 3 Q's up in there in Barger yards in Caldwell as well as the two in boise. I picked up two good front seats from a 95' in Boise last time for $120 with no tears.

Rswicki (?) was the intermediate owner who had the headers fabricated and installed the 4.10 differential. His posts are a good read.

Correct Rob (Rsiwicki) was the one that chased a 14 sec/100 mph 1/4.

I think it would be a GREAT candidate for a manual swap.

Congrats to both you and Chris

I'm BACK [occasionally] after an 8 month R&R and working on a small rear turbo for my 1995 G20t [too many vehicles [p/u , jeep + C43] in fleet that sucked gasoline and injectors.

He just got out of Q jail for serving time for letting his Q overheat and continuing to drive it!

I'm looking forward to future threads about the car's resuscitation. And it feels good knowing it'll be back on the road soon.

Guess I should probably update the cars list in my profile now...

:chuckle: Thanks.

The wheel is such a weird shape it's hard to find steering wheel covers that fit it. The wheel's diameter and thickness feel EXACTLY perfect to my hands anyway, though, so I probably wouldn't have used a wheel cover even if I did find one that fit.

Ah, finally, someone who is senior to me and knows a hell of a lot more.

It would be fun to see this Forum rise from the ashes of obscurity as it and the recently departed Infiniti General and Infiniti Online Mechanic were 4 of the original 5 Forums.

I would only replace it with another factory steering wheel. I can't stand wheel covers.

Congratulations Lemhead. Glad to see that it's still in the NICO family!

I also considered ownership of "Da Beast" but my finances were not healthy enough to bring it back to its former glory.

Maybe when you get bored with it in a couple of years Lemhead.

Also, I was wondering about you Dennis, and you too Brian (till you came out of hiding a little while ago).

Yes, congrats!

This is one of the more "famous" Q45's in NICO history... The Q of Doom, Wes's (formerly Fred's, formerly Rex's) 94 5-speed Q45, Dennis's Zombie Survivor '90 Q, among a few others.

Glad to see it living on with a fellow forum member. :)

Speaking of adapter plates, where is your 5 speed swap thread? I searched through a million posts the other night and couldn't find it. I guess the search button is smarter than me.
