Some time ago, members were asking about fitting a Q motor into a Datsun Zcar. Take a look at this:

With aftermarket FI and Ignition control, it just might work.

In a few years, old Zs could have a reputation for bad chain guides.

I hate to break it to you guys, but that Z is old news. I first saw pics of this swap way back in the spring of 2001. This car belongs to an Aussie drag racer who built this car for one purpose: to build the fastest Nissan-powered dragster in Australia.

For those of you who've contemplated dropping this motor into any other car, keep in mind it's very, very hard (and hard on the wallet, I'd bet) to find a fabricator willing to one-off an adapter to fit this motor to a manual transmission. As it's been said, a million times over, anything can be done if you have the funds BUT IMO there are easier and much more practical motors that can be used in place of the VH45DE.

I tried telling him that already, but he insist on giving it a go, also this guy is a helluva fabricatorand actually might make some headway into this project, anyway we will see.

Car: should be obvious enough

yes, ive seen these pics as well. if i remember right the guy who was doing this was also considering twin turbos for this application.

clearly, $$$ was not much of an issue, due to all the custom fabrication, and (hopefully some) engineering. of course, unless the guy is well-read and can hold his own in fabrication so he could do it all himself... guess the labor would clearly be the bulk of it.

I'd rather go with a SBC and spend the time DRIVING.

A Ford 302 would fit in there and only cost a fraction...with good heads it will make 340 hp... and fine tuning. But I am sure it exists already

There is a whole web site <http://www.hybridz.com> devoted to Zcars with engine swaps. SBCs, Ford Cs and Ws, BBCs, several V6s and the occasional Jag V12.

Some of these guy do amazing design and fabrication.
