Folks,

Sad day in AZ as I sold my 91Q. It has been a pleasure interacting here. This forum is the best experience I have had on the internet to date! Good luck to all and I hope your Qs run well for a long, log time.

Jed

We're certainly sad to see you go. What's replacing your Q, or do I want to know?

I see....you didn't want to tell us in advance for fear of the Hitman arriving at your doorstep early in the morning.

I always hate to see a member go, more so when I am unsure if he didnt buy another Infiniti or at least a Nissan.

Hope you wont turn to the dark side (Honda, Lexus/Toyota)

And wishing you the best of luck.

Look us up sometime.

Fred...:)

Didn't go to the dark side - entirely. A '97 BMW 740i replaces my Q. At least I will still be able to enjoy the satisfaction of luxury vehicle maintenance!

I will lurk now and again....I will pass along candid BMW v Q stories if anyone is interested.

So far:

Pros - 5 speed trans. Space-age interior/dash. Steering and handling, key with built-in remote.Cons- Stereo (and mine is top of the line!), the term 'beemer', 6k redline, can't check the trans fluid - so called lifetime!

I almost bought one of those beamers before I got my Q. Its a great car, BMW quality and that German road holding feel especially at high speed, its the best, that car totally hauls **s. They made a big mistake on the sealed transmission (The transmission is a totally sealed unit as they were confident enough to think the fluid would remain viscous for over 300k. They were wrong, you will be changing the transmission soon. I probabaly will stepping toward a BMW, AUDI, MERCEDES, INFINITY, eventually but not for about 1000k with my 90 Q.

Good luck, be cool, and may the force be with you.

LOL - I knew... I'll get him when he least expects it. :D

I was actually trying to put together a deal between Jed and Andy (Repo) for Jed's Q so it'd stay in the family... If the new owner isn't gonna check in here I may just pay him a visit too...:D

This damn forum...I keep checking it!

Hitman...we will get together with the Vericom before the summer heat hits. I wish the car went to repo, but Indiana is a long way.

I agree with the lofty lifetime fluid nonsense. I plan on getting it flushed. The good news is I have noted absolutely no transmission issues on the BMW forums.

The BMW feels heavier than the Q. The brakes are gigantic.

PS....the parts prices on the BMW are MUCH less than the Q parts! Go figure.
