Last night I set the timing on the Q as a follow up to the KS plenum job. It now idles at about 1500 rpm at running temp.

I initially set timing when it was cold, then let it reach op. temp then set it based on op. temp. Never had any idle issues prior. It idles fine under load also.

Just wondering if there is some further fine tuning I need to do as I don't think the timing had ever been adjusted on this car.

I'm getting ready to leave for Florida and will be taking the Q for the second time in 6 yrs so anyone not too busy to give a response asap I would much appreciate it.

Remember to reset IAC manual air bypass to 2-3 turns out from bottom assumming TB is clean.

Inside tach is too inaccurate to use at low rpms..............real rpm from Consult

Isn't 1500rpm a little high for idle at running temp? My Q is about 900 rpm when it gets warmed up.

You HAVE to adjust timing with the engine HOT and the IAC unplugged. I would adjust the timing so that it idles fine, then unplug the IAC and adjust.

Thanks I did adjust while hot but not with IAC unplugged.Idid readjust the IAC while looking for something major (loose hose under plenum) seemed to do the trick. I will go back and recheck timing with the IAC unplugged. Thanks all

I checked the timing before and after IAC disconnect and it was still dead on. I also did what tech said and turned the iac all the way in and then out 3 turns. It did register a bit lower on the tach, but it seems the tach is not as accurate as other means (consult). My Q runs like gravy!
