Took my Q in to get the standard G50 exhaust treatment.

Sounds great up to 3500RPM then it gets super raspy. My belief is that the resonators are getting too much input.

Would removing or replacing these lead to a less raspy note without the popping?

Pics coming soon I promise!

Thats what the guy at the shop reccommended. Running a little low on cash, seeing as I had an accident and need a new front, passenger door and mirror. Can find them, just not in green and I really don't want to have to paint the whole damn car.

I replaced my resonators with two flowmasters. Are you running twinpipes out the back. That could be your vibration/rasp. My two pipes from my flowmasters go into one 3 inch pipe to the back and then my monza tips. Sound very sporty, no rasp. Also no pre cats and two high flow cats. Not loud until you roll on it.

Anyone know what's inside the resonators?

I don't see why the vibration of twin pipes would do that.Looks like I'll be going back to see what they can do and also add an X-pipe in with it.

How about this one? Found it on http://www.car-part.com

I just drove to Raleigh... actually a little town outside of it called Fuquay-Varina on Monday to get a replacement door and fender for my truck. I spent a lot of time tracking down another white truck in the same year in hopes that it will match fairly well and I can avoid painting it. I think it will be fine for my work truck.

Looks like it's about 100 miles from you, so not a bad trip. I put 520 miles on a rental truck from Enterprise. They upgraded me to a Nissan Titan, so I was happy to try one out. It's a lot more truck than I need on a regular basis, but it was fun for the day... except for the $75 in gas.

In a deeper color like green, I don't know how great it will look, but at least you'll be a step or two ahead in that if you have it painted, they won't have to paint the inside of the door around the edges.

Well I've found a Red mirror and door at a salvage yard and I'll pay $175.00 plus tax to get them. Going to do the BMW headlamps like lasoya, and then I'll paint the car green again (sunspots starting to show on rear bumper).

Yesterday someone cheered as they heard the Q roar by. What a great engine.

Yea I tell yea, the first day it was done I fishtailed out on to the highway and had EVERYONE looking. At low RPM it sounds like my brothers Z32 TT with a hyperexpensive HKS exhaust system which in turn sounds like a Z06 at WOT

Twin pipes are small in diameter and restrictive. Not pipe vibration as much as back pressure vibration. To restrictive. Nice thought, but single pipe is the way to go if you want smooth sound. Don't just remove your resonators it will sound horrible. But hey, it's your car. This vid doesn't even do it justice...................http://s96.photobucket.com/alb...f.flv

I always thought a Q would sound really good with a single 3inch from the cats back... Just have a single "fart can" muffler in the back to quiet it down a little bit, with a flange so you could easily remove it..

THAT sounds phenomenal.

So your setup is twin resonators to a single pipe into a single in/dual out muffler?

If I can duplicate that, I'll love ever penny spent.

No. Here is how it is..pre cats gone, two back cats replaced with Dynamaxhigh flows, two resonators replaced with magnaflows, they go back and form into one large pipe straight to the tips. No rear muffler at all. It's not real pretty like others (Jamesmost or someone had a beautiful set up) but sounds nice. Oh, also kept the stock H pipe.

Had a cruise tonight with a 300ZX TT, 350Z, 2007 G35X, and a Subaru WRX STi and all the guys loved the exhaust note.

I'm starting to come around, could've just been the shock of being able to hear the exhaust at all
