You can run it like that for a little while. Old turbos weren't water cooled, and you can still buy a turbo that isn't water cooled. What will happen, though, is that the turbo will rely on oil to keep the CHRA cool. And that will greatly kill the lifespan of your oil, making you have to change your oil more often. Also, the long term durability of a turbo that is designed for a water cooled CHRA will greatly decrease if you run it for very long with the coolant blocked off.

My suggestion is to figure out the problem you're having with the coolant line and fix it. What is the problem? Leaky line? Either get a new one/make a new one, or look at getting some braided steel lines. Our cars were meant to have water cooled turbos, and I'm a firm believer that they should stay that way.

you can tap the coolant outlet neck to get coolant to your turbo and run AN lines to your turbo.

i think it's a bad idea to go without coolant on a turbo designed to have coolant.

get the old bolt out, if not drill it out and drill the original hole one size larger and re tap it. i believe 4an is the next size up you can run by enlarging the original hole. don't go too deep when you drill. once retapped redo the line with an fitting and you remove the banjo fitting forever. not an easy fix but it's def. a fix.

turbos that only run oil has a large oil caity in the center section for more heat transfre to occur between the oil and the turbo. Watercooled center sections do not have cavity designed to take the heat from the turbo to the engine oil. So, its only a matter of time before your turbo will blow. It will last you a little tho.
