flushed the coolant using 6 gallons of distilled water {9 drain and refills}and added the new Prestone"all makes and models" fluid. while doing this procedure, the tiny o-ring on the drain c*** of radiator split from old age and caused a slow leak of water from radiator-local dealer of course didnt have o ring in stock,so off to local hardware store where i performed last drain of distilled water onto their parking lot, took drainplug into store and matched up new o-ring{.39 cents} and reinstalled plug and added coolant! moral of story, get a new o-ring before attempting coolant flush on your Q.

I did mine by removing the thermostat and putting a garden hose up to where the heater hose goes. So much brown crap came out.

I did the radiator flush separately.

good idea with pulling the hose. next time! will save tons of time. garden hose to flush is fine as long as you finish the flush with distilled!!

Talk about trust! Glad the hardware store had your o-ring!

I agree on the pulling the lower hose deal too...

Careful with neoprene o-rings, they seem to dry up and crack sooner than later. If you want to replace it again use one rated for R134a for a permanent fix.

Same thing with the dipstick tube, for the vac leak = wierd idle.
