Just some idle chat on a lazy Hawaiian Sunday......
My daughter has just left home here in Hawaii to start her first post-college job, in Dallas. Three weeks ago, while she was still here in Honolulu, we together purchased on the internet, unseen except for a couple of photos, a 1995 Q45 from a small dealer in in Dallas.
We sent him 50% of the agreed price, the rest to be handed over in Dallas. He agreed that if an early inspection showed the car to have significant problems he would refund all our money. (Now, don't jump to conclusions. This a happy story).
The vendor then met my daughter on her arrival at DFW , with the car. One reason for our buying the car like this was the impracticability of a 21-year-old renting a car.
We had insured the car with a company in Dallas, also via the internet, before she went there.
Very soon afterwards we found on the NICO site a "Q45 expert technician" who by chance lives in Dallas. He has given the car a thorough inspection and, all in all, everything is fine with the Q.
It just shows you how the internet has changed the way we do almost everything.
Aloha to all NICO members,Ian
