bump stop question:well I was doing kyb AGX and RSRs and had to take the front to a shop since I broke some tools trying to take off the 17mm oblts (lol). Anyway they didn't put the stock bump stop back on, saying I don't need it, and it'll make my struts bottom out... I always thought the bump stops were there to stop it from bottoming out and destroying the struts.

opinion:

I'm looking at rota slips (16x7 13.5 lbs) they are nice but the offset is bit high, the guy at the shop (he owns 3-4 240s) and swears 16x7 +40 will rub, in addition to looking crappy (sunken in)... he's trying to sell me some 5zigen FC 01rc 17s (the only size w/ correct bolt pattern and offset for my s14)... he's giving me a good price though (I think), the spec is 4x114.3 35+ offset 17x7 if i'm correct.

of course the rotas are cheaper.

thanks, need some help/opinions

16x7 +40 rotas won't rub, I ran that on my S14 and I had no marks on my coilovers, and you'll have a ton more room with the spring/strut combo than I do with coilovers.

You should put the bumpstops back on your shocks.

ok... it seems the ppl at the shop knew what they were talking about when they left off the bumpstop, but I really want to make sure. According to the offset calculator, if i get the 16x7 40+ rotas, I'll have an extra 13 mm into the car and extend out of the car also... so it shouldn't be too bad.

Depending on how low you go, it is possible that you end up hitting the bumpstops under compression. Taking it out altogether can be dangerous and damaging to your suspension. Minimally, you can try to cut your bumpstops and remove some of the material to give you a little more clearance while not removing the entire bumpstop. But ultimately, if you are hitting your bumpstop at anything but some large bumps under load, then you probably have your car too low or need stiffer springs.

I have the RSR hard springs... yea I did some research I think I'm going to take it back there and tell them to put the front bumpstops on for me again
