Its about that time for a new Battery, last time I just went to autozone, but im not to pleases.

So what do you guys reccomend? What are you runnin in your q's?Should i spend the $$$ and go for a optima, if i did would i want a deep cycle cause of all the things that could be running at once in a q? (heated seats headlamps, foglamps, stereo, Cell phone charger, radar detector and power inverter).

What originally came in the q?

The battery I have know doesnt fit in the battery spot and that kinda bugged me

I heard Interstate??????

I can get Optima's for pretty cheap...If you can, the red top is definitely worth the money. Otherwise, go with Die Hard batteries (keep the receipt just in case). This is comin' from a guy who works at Autozone... :D

I would put in the largest highest capacity battery I could possible fit.Try to avoid those that have the extra pair of side outlets, as they weaken it a bit and may leak later on (unless u get great warranty)

Fred...:)

I don't think there's a right answer.

My Autozone battery seems to be holding up fine! When the battery fails on you, the choice is easier: who's open weird hours!!

Really?:D Maybe it's time for a "group purchase"

I bought the largest Champion they had at Sam's back in 1996. It came with a 24month free replacement warranty. You could set your watch by it... every 23.5 months it fails. Sometimes more often than that. Only paid for one, and I've had about 4. Like Fred said, the largest physical size and CCA you can find... (that was the champion at Sam's last spring) I also checked all of the parts stores, NTB, Sears, Wal-Mart, etc...

I'm with Fred and Heath on this; the highest capacity one that fits.

By the way, do retain the receipts from any battery, especially the Die Easy; I quit using them out of disgust over 25 years ago.

The last time my Q battery died, I simply got another one from the Infiniti dealer (price was about $70 or so) without worrying too much about it. The previous battery had been cranked down too tight and it warped physically. I was more careful (a diy) and periodically check it to make sure that the terminals are tight and clean and the bettery is not "loose in the socket", etc.

In the past, Consumer Reports has always touted Interstate (I think that is the name?) as being the best brand with the best cranking and cold-weather performance.

Don't call me Chicken Little -- the sky's not falling, but . . .

Habitually pushing current through an almost-dead battery will shorten the alternator's life, could kill it outright. Alternators aren't designed to charge a dead battery, just top one up after a normal start. This is why you won't find me offering anyone a jump start. Use my charger . . .

Waiting until the battery actually gets bad enough to die might be penny-wise, pound-foolish given the cost of the alternator, the struggle to replace it, and just the darned inconvenience of getting stranded somewhere.

I vote for prophylactic battery replacement every 3 years, or buy an electrolyte tester so you can monitor the battery's decline. The EL section of your factory repair book is very specific about when to pack it in.

According to the book, the OEM battery was rated at 80AH. I don't know if your can derive CCA from that.

About a week ago my battery died! It turn out three cells were bad. It was most likely defective from the factory. My factory battery is made by Interstate.

The fact is that save the Optima battery nearly all the cores are built by the same company, Johnson Controls. This goes for Interstate, Die Easy, etc. There are some bad brands out there for sure and I think at least with Interstate and Sears it is easy to get a new one replaced under warranty.

I replaced my 300ZX battery with a new Interstate one that is their higher end battery. I did this since the car is a Sunday driver and the battery was always going dead if I didn't drive the car for a week. This one is good for at least two weeks (I use a standalone charger to recharge it when it dies too).

I'd do Interstate or sears (keep receipt right in the glove box) but if you live in extreme cold or extreme head buy an optima. That is what I plan to replace all my cars with in the future.

Another vote for Sam's Club. They have a great warranty policy. When you near the end of the free replacement period just walk in with your old battery (WITH RECEIT) and they give you a new one. No. questions asked.
