q antenna replacement

got the new mast from joe today,replaced it,all went well,except it wont go all the way down,sticks up about 2 inches.tried the search,but no luck with answer to the problem! can anyone help with this? also received tension rod bushings,can a tire store press these in,or do i need to disassemble and take to a machine shop?

Broken pieces of nylon in motor some diassembly required.

Remember the bushing arrow must be correctly aligned.

Yep. You gotta take out the motor, get out all the little bits, grease it up, and put it back in....

wonder why the factory service manual fails to mention this! sounds like more than i want to tackle right now,does the cd changer need to come out also? any harm just leaving it the way it is-sticks up maybe an inch now when off

Its not hard at all..... You just gotta take off the cladding on that one side, pull it out and the motor is right there. 4 bolts holding it on and a few assorted other things. I did it in 30 mins before I went to the golf course... And you know itd be easy if Id take the risk of doing it before golf!
