On the S13, is there any difference in size between the HUD tach and the analog tach?

No

I swapped mine out a few months ago (digital -> analog). I also replaced the dash because I didn't need the big hole left by the HUD.

They are 100% interchangable with no mods of any kind. If you go from digital to analog, be sure that you double check that all of the contact/grounding screws are installed in the back of which ever cluster you are swapping in!!

When I swapped mine out I thought the guy I got it from had d!ck me over; but after cannibalizing the digital cluster for screws, the analog unit worked just fine.

Oh...... but you mean the physical dimensions of the tach gauges themselves? In which case, no, they are the same also. I just ran out to the garage to double check. I still have my old digital cluster collecting dust.....

yeah. the actual tach itself. We were discussing redlines from the SR, and it's higher than what the KA tach reads. So I was thinking one could simply swap a JDM tach over, but then I remembered Dave Coleman had issues with the size. Since his car has a digi cluster, I figured maybe the analog tach is a bit larger than the digi tach. In all honesty, I would think that the japanese tach would be the same size as the american tach since they dashes are identical (minus the sidethe steering wheel sits on)

I hear what you're saying. Yeah, the tachs themselves are the same size. I am a huge fan of crisp, easy to read analog gauges so the SCC cluster wasn't up to spec in my book!
