*****! I just changed my oil, and when I put my car back in the garage, I didn't pull it all the way forward, and I just left it as I was planning in taking the used oil to the lube for disposal. Alas, my mom gets home and she ALWAYS closes all the open doors in the garage. Trunk is ****ed, missed the spoiler, but several MONSTER scratches on the ***... I'm really pissed. What is the number of the touchup paint for the 2001 Blackout Sentra? Any ideas? Would it be in the manual? I'll take a pic in just a sec... it may need to be repainted entirely. ****! First noticeable attack on my car since I got her in August... I'm so pissed. :help

As usual, I overreacted a bit to the situation. When I got down there, I realized it wasn't quite as bad as I expected. More scuffs than scratches, but still not pretty. We took some cleaning compound to it and got the scuffs out, but it's still screwed in a few spots (down to the metal). I'm still working on the cleanup, I'll have the pics up in a little while.

Quite an annoyance, I was going to have a merry trip to the lube to dump my old dino poop and have some fun stretching out the synthetic a little for my placebo effects from the switch. I'm not sure the lube will still be open when I get a chance to go. We'll see.

She did say she'd pay for it, but it looks like I'll just be using touchup paint (if I can find the right paint code) after I wash it today or tomorrow (probably a little later tonight). So it won't ever be as glorious as before (til I get the whole thing re-sprayed some time).

I'm still pissed, but not as much as I would have been... though it'd have been better if she'd screwed the whole thing, cf trunk anyone?

there should be a little metal plate on the firewall that has the VIN, paint code, trim code, chassis code, engine code, etc...

Sorry about the incident and I'm happy that it's not serious, but I hope you apologized to your Mom. She was not the one who parked the car in the garage wrong. She's a great mom for offering to pay. But I don't think I'd let her pay if I were in the same situation with my car.

I didn't get mad at her at all openly. I understand fully that I hadn't pulled it in all the way. I thank her for stopping it before it took my bumper off. However, we've lived in this house for 7 years, and she knew I'd been working on my car a bit. It is awkwardly parked in the third spot, as I share that spot with the golf cart, and thus have to park off at an angle to begin with. I literally have less than 2 inches of clearance on either side of my front bumper every time I come home, it's an art you learn real quick.

In other words, I do hold myself responsible for not pulling in another couple inches, but when I'm working on stuff I often park that way (the hood was up when I parked, so I couldn't see too well). It was the middle of the day, there was no reason to be closing the doors.

For a little bit of touchup paint, I'm going to be somewhat of a **** and let her pay for it. It won't be very expensive, but since I literally have $1 at the moment... :(... over time I will cover a few costs here and there when she sends me on errands, as I do on the rare occasion she lends me a few bucks.

Pics in just a sec.

Alrighty, so it got scratched up pretty nicely on the driver's side of the trunk:

Closeup:

After some cleaner and a bunch of scrubbing, it came out a little better:

Have you ever seen a better excuse to debadge?

Being the kind of guy who takes lemons and makes lemon shots, I decided that I now had clearance to debadge my car :D. Indeed, my dad did say it would look better without it, and unbalanced if I just took off the Sentra part... soooooooo.....

Remnants:

So, Mobil 1 Supersyn, a debadge job, and a few scars for character... my car had an interesting day...

It does look worse in person, but not too awful...

I think of it this way, I can claim I'm a hardcore FF drifter now... cough...

edit: You're all SO going to pretend you can't see my license plate, k? I don't want to re-upload...

My mom opened her car door and banged my right rear fender. There's a nice noticeable scratch, but I don't care that much about it. It just matches my other dents and dings... no biggie.

However, If I had just gotten back from the body shop after removing the dings and getting a paint job, I would be quite pissed. Same goes for having **** happen to a relatively new car, like in your case.

Meh, that doesn't look bad at all after you cleaned it up. I say screw the touch-up paint, just grab a Sharpie and fill in those little specks. I doubt anyone will notice... ;)

Lol, I don't trust Macco with my car moreso than I don't trust my mom with the garage doors anymore.

Sentpa is the PWNED version of the Sentra, of course!

I would try the sharpie trick, but it's pretty obviously chipped (in person it's easier to tell). There's one layer chipped off, then a little further down the paint is chipped straight down to the metal, so a Sharpie won't be thick enough.

My brother took my debadging as initiative to do the same to his A4, lol. His'll be easier cause it's not cheap vinyl ****, it's an actual metal badge.

Really, he took me debadging as clearance to do the same from my parents, cause now they can't say no...

W - Take the "Sentpa" down to the dealer and see what the detail guys would charge to fix it. They do the touch-up with an airbrush, and they do GREAT work.

Of course, until you save up some $, I like the Sharpie idea. Skip the touch-up paint unless you really know what you're doing, as it'll just attract more attention to the repair.

Looks kickin' without the badging, and it'll REALLY look kickin' with some new pipes! :)

MAACO can't possible mess up a trunk lid. Just bring them the lid with no lights or badges and tell them what color code to paint..

AZ, I'll see what I can do, but I'm not terribly fond of dealers either. When I get my patience cap on good (kinda shot right now) I'll head up there... Wednesday is my next day off, sounds good, lol :D. I'd like to get it fixed before I get my new pipes, yaknow?

Speaking of my new pipes, get my email yet? Also, since I think your site is in dire need of sound clips, what would you like me to do for that? Stock vs BRM in one vid, or separate, etc? Oh, and any idea when I can expect my boom stick?

edit: Oh, and I was kinda thinking one of those paint marker things? I really don't know crap about paint other than how not to screw it up. Wash every other week and wax every once in a while, it holds up fine.

Very well handled, I've done the same kind of things and got all hacked off (inside), to later realize it only happened 'cause of something I did.

Glad to know you've been able to do that as well.

Take AZ's advice and take it to a dealer, best deal would be one where you know someone, doesn't have to be a Nissan dealer as the Used Car guys touch up all makes.

Good luck.

My local nissan dealer does excellent work. I would never hesitate to take my 240sx there for anything. Although more expensive than any indepedant shops, they have techs that know what they are doing and the neccesarily equipment to properly work on my car.

Thanks!

Needs a full bath, that's coming soon... I'd like to wash her the night before I put on my BRM, that way she's all clean when I take my victory run around town :D. But yeah, I like the debage a lot, just gotta get rid of those scars...

Your car looks great, honestly. Debadging looks excellent too. Good luck w/ the touchups on the paint.

Actually, I think it'd be kinda cool to smoke everything but the turn signals, but I don't really know how to smoke stuff, so... Any ideas on that? The reverse lights for sure, but what about the rest?

Oh, and up front I plan on a badgeless black mesh grille, black housing headlights... then a nice tint, and probaby dark silver wheels, eventually. Should be gorgeous... black valve cover with polished lettering too, nice silver and black combos all around... mm...

My valvecover is powdercoated like a slate color, pretty tight looking. I polished the letters myself and it looks yummy. Should look remarkarble on your car once you get it done.
