I wanted to put some turbos in my 1990 but I was wondering what steps I would have to take to do so?

That wasn't aimed at you EPN, that was aimed at the "I want to turbo my NA" which is historically followed by "with some turbos I got off a 1909 turbo diesel john deer, they are the size of a minifridge and I'm going to do rearmount to make them fit, I'll be whooping up on SRT-4 Neons once I'm making 17bajillion gigawatt horsepower."

Hey OP. Just do some more research I think. Any car could be turbo'd, and maybe that's the mind frame you're coming from. Low boost on NA internals might work, but what are the gains/ losses and is that a compromise you're willing to make? Ideal compression ratio is different for NA and Turbo. So, you could tear down and rebuild your engine to prepare it for a turbo, then add that system or you could swap out your NA engine for a turbo engine. Just because it can be done, doesn't make it a good idea. These guys giving you flack might just know a thing or two more about that and might actually be trying to help by shooting you down so you can focus your energy elsewhere... or they like to tease noobs! I'm just giving you all the benefit of the doubt.

I stayed away from this one for the same reason NoLimit gave for his post...I think that the teasing/poking fun comes from the fact that these guys DON'T research in any way whatsoever as centralcoaster suggested, and come in with these fanboy and noob-y "builds" or ideas they heard about or "So-and-So did in his garage" that make NO sense to anyone who's worked on Nissans...and they usually never re-appear to support their post.

Nissan has been like Ford in many ways IMO in that their best stuff isn't cheap or easy to work on, and asks the owner to step it up both in knowledge of the platform and ability to suffer a little (pain, money, creativity) for your gains- NOT what the other brands are about in any way. Many of us Nissan guys end up here for that reason and through research, not where these guys talking bolt-on's and weird senseless swaps seem to be coming from these days.

So, these silly little threads do provide a chance for some to have a little fun all while nudging the current automotive prankster into doing some learning...or not! :chuckle:
