you took everything out of the head? no notes on how to re assemble? The FSM is good.. but doesnt it matter which position you replace the rockers and shims?

i believe it does. best to put things in bags and label but that could be too late.

The little round 'magnets' should be the shims. the end of each rocker arm sits on top of two valve springs. one side sits in a 'magnet' with a groove. the other side sits directly on top of the shim or 'magnet'.

There is no website to my knowledge that will show you how to do this step by step.

Additionaly, if you took it apart and didnt make note of which shims went to which rockers, it might be better to take the head to a shop and have it re shimmed.

good luck man. Also Num1S13, when you get everything back together and running good, you want to come to York one night? and Cyberkreig, how much longer you have with your Head?

YES

if you just threw this thing back together, it's going to be in SAD shape when it runs. i hope you don't break anything. if you have any desire to keep your engine running in decent shape and in one piece, i advize you to shim it yourself if you're capable (sounds like maybe you aren't) or take it to a shop and have them do it for you. i can tell you it will probably be quite expensive for the rather small amount of time/effort it actually takes, but this is something you do NOT want to screw up. with the wrong shims in the wrong places you run the risk of damaging the hydraulic lifters by compressing them too much or extending them too much.

moral of the story: FIX IT SO YOU DON'T KILL YOUR ENGINE

good looking guys so i guess just take it to a machine shop and get them to work on. yeah that kinda makes sense.

SR heads require a special shimming tool... Not sure if your machine shop would have one. It is a Nissan specific tool.

If you do get one, its not hard to figure out which shim sizes you need. Given that you know how to subtract.

Also, cam caps should also go exactly where they came from. If not, I would look into line honing.
