From what i understand the following is required to install G37 sport brakes on an 06 m35x:

-spacers so stock wheels can clear rotors-front brake line for g37 sport

anyone know what the spacers will need to measure?

Will dealership perform this install, and should I just have them provide the brake line?

Thanks to ken in az for the link to the brake package: http://www.g35parts.com/9083/o...913eb

I spoke with my Service Advisor at length about this upgrade. He also talked to the parts manager and between them, they don't think it's possible. The think the caliper won't mount to the M's suspension, which pretty much kills the deal.

That said, I'd love to hear from somoneone who did it or was able to make it happen somehow. I'm sure the local dealer is not going to be the first one to figure this out.

Thanks for mentioning that. Damn. Well I'm going to be talking to my SA soon; I guess it won't hurt to have her look into it as well. If it isn't possible it isn't possible, but I'll still upgrade to something else.

Probably a dumb question but what is "the other forum"?

And by Riverside I assume you're refering to Riverside Infiniti? I guess I'll shoot them an e-mail about this.

It can be done, all you need are ~20mm spacers and the g37 brake lines. I am doing this in the near future.

PS: Sorry for any references I may have made to your competitor, didn't know I'm not allowed to do so..

Well, with the 2003 M45, the G37 brakes are not an option. I now have just over 40K miles on the car (original front brakes) so I just ordered a full set (front & rear) of the Frozen Rotors with the Hawk pads. After a bunch or reasearch, I'm convinced these are the way to go. I also asked why they don't use ceramic pads, and he said that ceramics are somewhat unstable with hot spots and therefore do not recommend them.

The guy at FR said I should easily get 50 to 70K miles out of these brakes and that these will aslo stop WAY shorter/quicker with no heat fade to speak of.

I also opted to stay away from the drilled and slotted rotors due to the noise (thrumming) issues the guy mentioned is part of experience when slotted rotors are used. They told me that unless I'm driving on steep mountain roads every day or racing the thing, the standard cyrogenically treated rotors willl be up to the task. Their lifetime warranty against warping convinced me.

The process of actually getting the rotors is about a 10 day process. They order your rotor (premium grade) then treat it thus: it goes in a chamber that can hold up to 300 sets of rotors (or gun barrels, space shuttle parts, etc.), and they slowly drop the temp down to 300 degrees below zero, using liquid nitrogen gas, as its much more stable than the liquid dipping process. The rotors sit for about 22 hours at 300 below, then they are slowly raised in temp to around 600 degrees and they sit at that temp for about 10 hours, then they slowly cool them down to room temp. The whole process takes about 55 hours. After that, they are shipped out.

So, once I get them, I will shoot some pics of the install - my mechanic quoted $200 to install all 4 of them for me. I plan to paint my calipers at that time too. Nothing gaudy - probably just black.

Yea M45Caliper I actually decided to go with Frozen Rotors as well. I did not want to deal with new wheels, new tires, spacers, etc.

I got the Forzen Rotors Slotted front and rear with the Hawk pads. They even price matched it down to the cost of the Power Slot Cryos which I ordered originally but were back-ordered.

I have an appointment next week to get everything installed by the dealer. They quoted me a little over $400 for the install.

I'm very excited! Will post pics and impressions next week.

I agree, the Frozen Rotors are most definitely a better than stock option. Let us know how the slots sound, I've read where it says they are a bit loud and pad wear is increased especially when using the stock pads, but you got the Hawk pads so it looks like you should be good.

Keep us updated and make sure you do the break in procedure as outlined for those pads. Break in or "Bead in" is very important for your brakes to work correctly.

What is that procedure?
