Putting screen/mesh behind wheel covers

Currently driving my 09 with no wheel covers after three of them went missing.

When I get the new ones in I was thinking about getting some black mesh material to glue on the back side. Basically the kind of stuff you could get at Home Depot to put in a storm door.

It should be able to help with brake dust but more importantly, maybe make it not quite so obvious that I'm running around with cheap wheel covers on.

Any thoughts? Anybody done this before?
