Putting New Speakers in my 96 240

So i'm finnally replacing those hideous stock speakers and before i get started i have a few questions. I looked at the rear and noticed that the speakers hook up via a special connector. Do i just cut the wires in front of the connectors and connect to the new spaeker wires to those wires or what? If so, which color is positive and negative and are the door panel ones the same way? Thanks..

btw, amps have already been bypassed to accommodate the new Headunit.
