Today me and NSRhatch put a set of test Invidia test pipes on the Z. They make a noticeable difference. They make yuor exhaust sound deeper and less restricted. Like they say though it does get a little raspy around 3500 rpm. Here's some pics.

A comparison between stock and aftermarket.

Some pics with the cats off.

Some of the pieces you need to take off.

A tow hook I got from my friend with test pipes.

I will try to get some pics of the test pipes on the car tommorow and maybe a sound clip. It got to dark and cold for anymore pics tonight.

Where's a picture of all the leaves you were wearing on your hat when you stopped by? haha

They look good, and I'm sure flow a million times better. A little raspy for my taste though, but I'm sure it will grow on me.

You know.....a pair of turbos would give it a much better sound

Hey Jonas you do reply on here and not just my350z.com. Thanks for the test pipes. Can't wait to see your roadster when everything is on it this summer. I'm definately thinking twin turbos after I get a built block and heads.

+1

Also i was wondering where does that hook screw into or do you have to mount a special piece so that it can be screwed in? Also i have been hearing a bit about how test pipes get raspy at high RPM's and i was wondering how that really sounds like is it bad and does it make it sounds like one of those raspy little ricers or is it alright and still Z sounding?

Its definitely raspy on the NA 350Z. I'm sure he'll post sound clips though

The tow hook screws into a 16mm piece that is behind the middle of the upper piece of the plastic grill. Don't know exactly how the plastic piece comes out, but I decided not to put it in. The test pipes are a little raspy after you get past about 3500 rpm. Ok so after everyone waiting and me cleaning a couple of inches of snow off the car cover here's the sound clip I took.

What's a good sound for an exhaust? Like what's the keys to look for there. I like the way my stock exhaust sounds too, but also think the HKS exhaust system sounds great too, even full open sounds good to me..

any advice?

Thats a great sound clip! Most people just rev it a little but that was great thanks alot! So how many RPM's was that when it was at its peak in the clip how high did you rev it? Also was that raspy at all or did it make any of the raspy test pipe sound i keep hearing about because that didnt sound bad to me at all, actually sounded a bit more agressive. In terms of what you were talking about after 3500 rpm was that raspy?

I-O Jerry.I started out going to about 2-3k and got to about 6k at the highest part.I don't have the greatest camera so it cut out some of the raspiness, but it's not really that bad.

Definately go with a true dual exhaust. The Stillen one looks and sounds close to the stock exhaust. The HKS exhaust is sweet too. I'm personally going to be going with the Greddy Evo-TT exhaust.

IT smoothes the exhaust out a little and preformance wise it's very little. The only time you would really notice a difference is with some forced induction.
