I think it's cool, but I won't install one. If we lived in a world where we didn't have to worry about d@mn thieves. I'd love to install it on my Jeep so I wouldn't have to worry about losing my keys in the woods.

Seems as tho some of you are still under the impression a mod such as this alters the security of your car or the use of the ignition keys. It does not. You still use the key or keyless entry to get in, still put the key in the ignition, still turn it to the RUN position, instead of turning the key to the CRANK position you reach up and push the cool ENGINE START button.

The Q's security system won't care about this mod. Steering lock, trans lock, etc. would not be effected. Unless you butcher up some wiring doing the install, this mod would not effect anything other than your engine start up procedures.

Granted many don't have the experience that I have with this type of thing but I would estimate ~1 hour or less to install this mod. I agree that the only purpose would be the cool factor to do this but I'm now considering it, could be a good addition to my already "cool" Q, some people like to be unique, some like to keep it stock, to each their own.

How much did you pay for that S2K button? Just need the button, a SPDT relay ($1.50 and have dozens laying around the shop), few connectors or solder/heat shrink, and a bit of wire...no sweat.

Qsiguy is exactly right, I don't know how many more times it needs to be said:

This does not make your (insert car type here) less secure. It still requires the key to be fully inserted and turned past ACC to ON. It might even possibly make it more secure, since most idiots would be completely confused by the mod, and would make hot-wiring the car even that much more difficult, which is impossible with the Q anyways. That said, if you had an older car without a real security system, like an older Honda or Mazda or something, it would theoretically be possible to wire this up to bypass the entire key system.

It was about a year ago or more but I think I paid just over $80 at the Honda parts department. I've seen them on the web from authorized Honda parts sellers for $45, and on eBay for $35-40. If you pick it up from the web, just make sure it comes sealed in the Honda parts bag (little bag with a red sticker, authentic part number, and red Honda logo).

Oh yeah. I realize that the way y'all are describing still requires the key. I meant bypassing all that in the jeep or just leaving the keys in.

Yeah lol none of the Marine Corps trucks require keys.. Neither do racecars come to think of it. For just an off-road vehicle or track car, who needs keys.

I remember seeing some cool key blanks with screwdriver handles on one end, so that it looks like a screwdriver is in the ignition. Ok actually it's stupid but I thought it was creative at least.
