Is it possible to safely do these? Or just not recommended?

He's probably wanting an alarm/system for remote start on a push button start car.

No way I know of to do it.

with an automatic transmission it is safe... you will most likey still have to press the "on/start" button once you get into the car, as most auto starts turn the car off once the brake is pressed if the "key" ignition is not in the "on" position.

you will have extra cost as you will have to bypass the engine immobilzer the G has... whish usually comes in the form of another part called a "bypass module". most auto start kits cost around $400 then add the cost of the module which will be $250+, then add what ever a shop charges to install the autostart. i would say you be out a little under $1000 to get it done...

i have been thinking about getting this done to my G, as i have it on my jeep and it is so convient in the colder months. just star the car from the warm house

Yeah it is possible. I've done this to all my other cars not to the G. When the G came out with the push start people hack even some dealer offered it for around 1k. I deicided not to do it since the whole system is pretty new and 1k seems pretty pricey( or I am just being cheap).

There were few people had some issues due to the installation. But those were the early stage problems. However if you get this done make sure you get a reputable shop to do it.

I have a garage so I don't really needed it. When I am at wor I just go out start up the car push the buttom on the door lock it. Go back close the shop , set the alrm for the building and good to go. I really learned not to use these things. My wife uses hers all the time on her Foci.

Also if I remeber right you are loosing the alarm when it turned on remotly or loosing the way to open the door when you get to the car you need the key once it started remotely. I am not sure about this tho. Hope somebody knows more and can chime in.

safely? Had a co-worker & wife die when his neighbor's (condo over garage) car auto started and nobody knew it. Both couples died that night in their sleep.

Also, in our area, you can get a ticket for leaving a car running unattended.

that is very wierd... as most auto starts have a timer on how long it keeps the car running... my jeep's is 15 minutes... it can be set longer, but is finite never the less

This was probably just before Y2K, because I remember working on replacing our GL system with PeopleSoft in prep for the big Y2K computer melt down.
