Wouldn't it just make it easier for some 16 year old to steal your car?

Not trying be upset you but you must think it completely through.

At very least you would need the entire system (Key FOB, harness, "Push starter" button and any other control modules.

But in my opinion push start is like too many propane grills out there, I am a charcoal guy (Sorry Hank Hill).

I'm sure there are engineers at DEI working on a good aftermarket transponder setup - which seems to be the weak link in adding it to an older car...

1) Can get out of it's own way 2) Has a big back seat

Meets the needs of most 16 year olds if they actually have an opportunity to use the second part of that list!

This might come as a surprise, but I would actually be interested in this mod if it could be done as securely and with the reliability of the factory system in the wife's G. I don't know how many times I have gotten in the Q, keys firmly in pocket, and reach for the switch on the dash.

Here's a cool option, it's an entire kit and they even have an add-on module for an RF transponder. It's just as safe as the factory pushbutton systems on new vehicles. Here's a link: http://www.kptechnologies.com/products.php#/18

I saw the module you posted, but not the transponder option... can you link to it?

The passive RFID add-on module is not going to be available until the summer, but the following video shows the pushbutton system with the RFID module and how it works...

Interesting! YouTube suggested another video from "JR Industries" that looked similar. The only limitation I noticed is that the fob has to be placed in a very specific area, whereas with the OEM one on our G, I can leave the keys in my pocket, and the wife can leave hers in her purse or whatever. I'm sure they'll find stronger RFID technology for the aftermarket soon.

Yeah, that's a huge drawback. The one from JR Technologies is a little hokey since it doesn't explain what comes with the kit. I wasn't sure if the pushbutton starter they show in the JR video was the factory pushbutton (since it was on the shifter) or if they added that somehow. There is another RFID pushbutton starter called Guard Dawg which detects the RFID tag from up to 10ft. away, so you don't have to take the keys out of your pocket.

You beat me to it... I just found the Guard Dawg site. I certainly trust DEI (aka Viper and about 15 other brands) in terms of reliability. It'll be interesting to see if they introduce one.
